Ah, I had wondered what was the story with that, thought it was an FR24 glitch. Thanks .

They posted up an fyi on their twitter yesterday. Due to the introduction summer schedule for many airlines and the time change a few glitches expected.

The following quote is taken from an EK A380 driver....
I know it will stop on that runway. My colleagues know it will stop on that runway... Management will issue a Warning if a 'Too short' warning is ignored... It's all a Frying Pan V Fire kind of thing; however, once the Pan call is made after diversion is made and fuel potentially tight then an approach to land can be continued even if the 'glitch' reoccurs...

Guess that i wasn't so wrong after all.

If you're tight on fuel after diversion and a pan call you don't really have much choice but to continue to land regardless of the warning or any other warning...

At NOC or on the aircraft?

Which is annoying since airlines issue the new flight numbers months in advance. oag.com for example makes a lot of money consolidating and selling this information well before the flight operates.

However FR24 seems to rely on a feed from the air traffic flight information distribution systems, so they don't 'see' a new flight until it has been scheduled into the system which might only be a day in advance. I don't know whether they receive both callsign and flight number at the same time or have to correlate those somehow.

For callsign-only flights without IATA flight numbers it 'watches' the route for a few days and in theory learns the destination.

On the aircraft, EI-DVN was met by emergency vehicles on landing.

Looks like an EZY and Speedbird may be heading up north - avoiding, LHR, LTN and STN as winds around here aren't much better.

Heathrow's closed and I've seen a few go to STN already. Everything's diverting, many go around. Very stormy weather by the looks of it, and from experience I find that the turbulence can be scary.

You know as I was writing that I thought there's something up with writing LHR :D Oops, tiring day.

Correct anyways, direct crosswind gust of 40kts at Heathrow at the 1:50 METAR, that wouldn't be favourable.

Weather conditions don't look likely to improve anytime soon, the morning could be intresting.

Could you see the aircraft? How did the approach look?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,487 ✭✭✭✭JCX BXC

Easyjet go around and immediate climb to +8000ft at LGW.

The easyjet gone around at LTN is also climbing and probably diverting.

Can't see the airport from here, just the climb and turn and a steep climb in the case of a go around (which you can tell from the sound usually).

The diverting Easyjet from LTN is now squaking emergency code 7700

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,487 ✭✭✭✭JCX BXC

Easyjet from TLS on the ground at LGW, first landed in well over an hour. The BA that was on approach behind it went around very early and is now also diverting.
