    Hi,

Was told today by Tesco that they no longer accept cuttings from newspaper for competitor coupons - only receipts / vouchers from shop. Has anybody else been told this?

    Thanks,
    super_freddie.

    Tesco where?
Sounds like a member of staff doesn't know what they are doing?

I have the tesco coupon page set up so I get alerts if it changes, it says the only change was the date and the addition of fuel.

Ring customer service and ask them to clarify the position for you, ask is it all stores or just the one you were in that won't accept the Aldi/Lidl money off vouchers.

Was it a full tesco or one of their dearer express or metro shops?

    All Tesco stores take them.
If you get refused, ask for a manager.

Tesco Artane Castle has a large sign up on the way into the supermarket proclaiming that they accept all competitor coupons

My original post was a little light on detail :) It was Tesco online and I believe the source "physical" shop is Wilton in Cork. The actual statement in relation to newspaper cutouts came from Tesco online customer service. Looks like I need to call them again outlining some of the facts here, particularly that there have been no (relevant) changes to their terms and conditions...

I work for tesco as delivery driver we take the competitor coupons from the customer when we deliver the shopping. The money then gets put back into your bank account within a few days.

Thanks Alan. Yes, I know that's how it happens and I've done it on numerous times in the past, issue is that customer service told me they've stopped accepting newspaper cuttings. Have you been told this?

    Thanks,
    super_freddie.

Just happened to check my statement today and found that I was refunded 10 euro instead of 20 on lasts weeks shopping though I gave the driver a 20 euro voucher. I rang customer service and they refunded me the extra 10. It might be worth everyone having a check in case it's a problem across the board.

Nope we have not heard that at all we were told that we can keep accepting them. I got given 6 of them today from customers so work away if you have any :)

Yea that can happen alrite as most of them are 10 euro vouchers the manager probably hit 10 instead of 20. Quick call to customer service will sort it out for you

Apologies if this has been asked already but can you use €10 off voucher from aldi and spend and save coupons on the same shop? We have €17.50 in spend and save tesco coupons and a €10 off €50 voucher. Also we have a €20 off €100 voucher from last weekend that expires today, we won't use it but if anyone wants it they can have it. I'm in NAAS area. Thanks.

If you have any other discounts or vouchers- you have to bring the balance back up to 50 or 100 (as appropriate) in order to use a competitor coupon.

If the tesco coupons are the cash coupons from your loyalty bonus mailing then you use that but have to bring the total over the spend and save limit(€6 off €30, €10 off €50 etc) again before you can use only 1 spend and save voucher.

Gimme a shout if you still have that. I'll make great use of it :-)

Came across a receipt earlier whilst wombling and it says
    TOTAL EUR 51.25
    COMPETITOR COUPON 15.00
    COUPON N/S
    CASH 36.25

Any idea who is dispensing €15 coupons?

Probably SuperValu. Got some during the week 10 off 50 spend, sister-in-law got 12 off 60 or 70 spend can't remember which.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,727 ✭✭✭✭Snake Plisken

Was it Aldi or Lidl? Anyway got Supervalu "spend 50 get 10 off" vouchers in the post and used one yesterday in Tescos. Great to save a tenner on the weekly shop

Dont Dunnes do 10E off a 50E on their receipts?

I used to see posters around shopping centres!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,387 ✭✭✭✭rubadub

His one looks like it was a 15euro off off a 50euro spend which would be very good to get.

A new aldi opened near me a few weeks back, I know a guy living closer than me who got a lidl 10/50 voucher in the door only for use in a local lidl. Presumably trying to poach aldi customers they did not even have yet.

tescos ones would not register as "competitor coupons" on the receipt. I know someone who got several tesco ones for shops of 130 or 140. All I got in the post was ones for tesco meat products.
