Despite what was reported in the Aldi coupon thread, Tesco are continuing to accept the above.

Confirmed by two Tesco employees via Facebook messenger.

Aldi & Lidl aren't doing the coupons at the moment, guess it only apply for Dunnes or Supervalue.

One hopes they will update this page if there's a change in practice...

I was looking into this yesterday and there's a recent post on their Facebook page asking them this very question (as the customer in question had been refused) and they confirmed that the system of acceptance is still in place.

They accepted a Super-Valu one off us Yesterday.

Took a supervalu delivery email print of mine last week .

    Spend 120 and save 17.

As is was not a real voucher I can still use the code with supervalu next week.

Got the refund a few days later.

    Suckers

Rang Ardkeen Tesco's in Waterford this morning to confirm and they are still accepting vouchers from other stores

Means I don't need to go near Caufields Supervalu in Waterford to spend the current vouchers I have. Worst store layout I've ever come across!

Good to know, considering that many (if not all) individual SuperValue stores only accept the vouchers issued from their own particular store- i.e. it's not a "Supervalu group-wide" offer.

They do but they recently changed their policy to one per transaction.

Sister in law got caught out and demanded they take them as it wasn't written down anywhere, ended up voiding original transaction and putting it back through in 50euro portions. She had four of them.

Better off to tell the cashier that you have vouchers before you start checking out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35 scartboy

Just checked the Tesco Conditions - they say only two vouchers will be accepted per customer per day. Don't know whether this restriction is new but, in theory, you would only be able to use Dunnes vouchers on a spend of €100, split up into two transactions. I don't know how they could know if you came back to another till and didn't use your club card.

Yes noticed this before but not sure how they could police it as they don't demand a clubcard when using them so no log to verify possible. It had to have hit them hard over Christmas as they had some of the best booze prices around and then people using the €10 off €50 LIDL/ALDI vouchers would have made a big dent loss wise on alcohol sales. What they should be doing is issuing their own vouchers instead that they can control but at the end of the day if they can't see the potential pi$$ taking they need to "Don't hate the player hate the game".

Used a spend 40 save 8 from Supervalu today. Awesome stuff.
Had a heap of coins in my piggy bank and a load of 1c and 2c to get rid of so off to tesco I went as they have the coin counter €37 in total and if you spend that in tesco you can use the whole lot rather than losing some of it on the 'commission'. Coins + tesco vouchers + supervalu voucher made my €51 euro shop come to €4.50 for me. :D

The coin counter is awesome, rarely go shopping in tesco but I always throw my loose change in the pig and I've a cup on my desk in work for same. So every few months (usually when I'm broke) I toddle off with my coins and can usually get a weeks shopping or the guts off from the change. Of course you could also throw it into the self service maching but now with 51 quids worth of shopping :)

last I checked they still take the commission regardless of whether you take the money or spend it in Tesco, but just phrase it in such a way that people think they get more by spending it there.

Anytime I've used it I get the full value in the voucher. Then again, I've no idea how much I actually throw into the machine.

if i remember right, you can get tesco vouchers for the full amount, but if you want cash, they take the commission off.

The machines make a vague implication towards that, but they take the commission regardless. The "full voucher amount" is after the 9% is taken.

With the 60c charge at BOI (I'm sure other banks charge similar) for coin lodgements as well as the time it might take you to count (if you've never worked retail or bar work) it can still be worth it if you're dumping less than 15 quid or so

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,096 ✭✭✭✭the groutch

yeah, I don't know why anyone would ever put anything other than 1c or 2c coins (5c at an absolute push) into one of those.

hear about people putting all their change, including 10c & 20c coins into it and thinking "wow I just made over €200"

wrong, you just paid a machine 20 quid to sort out your coins for you.

Was told today by Tesco that they no longer accept cuttings from newspaper for competitor coupons - only receipts / vouchers from shop. Has anybody else been told this?

    Thanks,

Ring customer service and ask them to clarify the position for you, ask is it all stores or just the one you were in that won't accept the Aldi/Lidl money off vouchers.

Was it a full tesco or one of their dearer express or metro shops?

    All Tesco stores take them.
If you get refused, ask for a manager.

My original post was a little light on detail :) It was Tesco online and I believe the source "physical" shop is Wilton in Cork. The actual statement in relation to newspaper cutouts came from Tesco online customer service. Looks like I need to call them again outlining some of the facts here, particularly that there have been no (relevant) changes to their terms and conditions...

Thanks Alan. Yes, I know that's how it happens and I've done it on numerous times in the past, issue is that customer service told me they've stopped accepting newspaper cuttings. Have you been told this?

Just happened to check my statement today and found that I was refunded 10 euro instead of 20 on lasts weeks shopping though I gave the driver a 20 euro voucher. I rang customer service and they refunded me the extra 10. It might be worth everyone having a check in case it's a problem across the board.

Yea that can happen alrite as most of them are 10 euro vouchers the manager probably hit 10 instead of 20. Quick call to customer service will sort it out for you

Apologies if this has been asked already but can you use €10 off voucher from aldi and spend and save coupons on the same shop? We have €17.50 in spend and save tesco coupons and a €10 off €50 voucher. Also we have a €20 off €100 voucher from last weekend that expires today, we won't use it but if anyone wants it they can have it. I'm in NAAS area. Thanks.
