Hi im just wondering If everyone's cell standby is topping the list on the battery usage? Or have I a problem? It's really annoying me at this stage iv seen videos where it's shown at 3% and such but mine is always in the mid 20's. Is this normal? Or how would I fix it
    Thanks

Quick one, where's the best place to pick an S7 or S7 edge up in a bricks and mortar store? CPW? Need to get a phone ASAP so will need to buy PAYG or sim free. I'm on Eir but could get anything I get unlocked. Is there any network doing a better price than the others?

Mine is showing 8% of usage. But I've no idea how to minimise this.

Has anyone tried connecting to the BMW connected drive functionality? I can get the phone calls working but nothing else (first world problems)

I want to get around to streaming everything, Tesco Mobile isn't the best for that but I'm thinking Vodafone could be better which is what I've the S7 on

I have the Gold S6 edge and i have to say when upgrading to S7 edge i'll probably go gold again. The black does look well but there's something extra classy about the gold. Plus i don't think it shows the fingerprints marks as much as the black

do you have reporting on? i did this and it saved me a couple of % on the battery

    Google:
    - Go to Settings > Device > Applications > Google (you'll need to swipe the list up, it's at the bottom)
    - Touch Menu More (3 dots in top right corner) > Select Usage & diagnostics > turn it off
    Samsung:
    - Go to Settings > Personal > Privacy and Safety > Report diagnostic info > OFF

for other tips you can go look through here

I've had light enough usage this week as busy with work, about an hour of screen on time per day, WiFi on all the time. Last charged Monday evening.

The battery has just hit 20% after 62 hours 20 minutes, the estimate says another 9 hours left, good going! (Screen has been on for 3 hours 17 minutes).

Is there a smaller sim for this? I got mine off Amazon and tried putting the sim card from the OPO into this and it's too big. The Micro SD card fit in its slot though.

Collecting my S7 Edge the weekend.

It's on vodafone so will likely have some bloat plus that awful vf protect software.

Anyway, is it better to flash to BTU firmware and if so, will I still get updates ?

    Thanks

I haven't noticed any problems with the bloatware, I don't know if I'd be risking the warranty on such an expensive brand new phone just for a few apps.

Flashing it via Odin won't lose warranty. There's no root required.

Picked mine up sim free today, pretty snappy compared to the Note 4, went for the standard one as I wouldn't fancy replacing the edges screen. Got it in Argos in the end as the phone shops wouldn't sell it PAYG.

Why do the carriers insist on putting bloatware on the phones? I've never heard of it before is this just an android feature? I've always had an iPhone so I've never seen it.

you can flash BTU only if it's not locked to vodafone network. make sure it is sim free / unlocked before flashing BTU on it.

    here's an example

Yep. I unlocked my S6 last year and flashed to BTU but didn't keep it long enough to find out if I got updates quickly. Thanks.

In such a fragmented market they want to differentiate themselves from the others. Vodafone have their own suite of apps for messaging, security, email etc.. And they usually add some "productivity apps". On the S6, MS Office came free but you also got Facebook and a few other apps (Dropbox, Twitter etc..) which you could not uninstall only disable. If you don't need them then you should be given the option of uninstalling. Otherwise it's bloat. And even the Samsung official firmware I downloaded later still had Office and Facebook and still uninstallable. No such crap with Apple because they don't allow the carriers to nonce around with their OS.

Because I didn't pre-order and basically went in and did an upgrade today I had to pay for the Gear VR.

However, I got the Gear VR and an Otterbox Symmetry for 60 euro. Not bad I suppose.

Just charging the phone now. Looking up the inevitable list of crap services I will need to disable.
I assume samsung voice or whatever it's called is still pants and google is still the way to go ?

Also, on the S6 edge if you wanted to get a bubble notification on the edge when someone send you a text message you had to stick with samsungs native messaging app. Is this still the case ?

I think i found the answer to my question about cell standby being so high in the 20's causing battery drain, it could be the same for anyone else
    having this issue
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/battery-problems-try-replacing-sim-card-t1780533

It sounds exactly that which is causing it for me, the guy in the shop took a Stanley blade to my sim to make it fit so it might not be a snug fit in the phone to function properly

Can anyone who bought an S7 here tell me if their phone has the "Alarm Tone" dialog as normal? Say, if you change the alarm tone (or indeed other tones such as notifications, etc) you see a dialog box like the following:

    http://recomhub.com/blog/how-to-set-edit-and-delete-alarm-clock-on-galaxy-s7-and-galaxy-s7-edge/

    Jwge514.png

Instead I just a "Choose path" URL, with only _one_ sound file available.

I'm not sure why mine differs from all the online help I've seen.

Possible it could be that alright, the other thing to consider is if you are in a poor reception area Cell Standby would use more power too.
