I was at my dad's, a lot of it really comes down to the person and the circumstances. The circumstances around my dad's were chaotic and the condition he was in was absolutely heartbreaking, however when it came about it almost seemed as though he was holding out to pick a time he was okay with, he gestured for me and my brothers to come over, held onto his rosary beads which we took as a prompt to say a quick prayer so we said a few. Immediately after finishing the prayers it started, as it happened I was only really focused on ensuring he wasn't freaking the **** out, it only went on for a few minutes at most.
It's definitely not an easy thing to witness and it's definitely changed my perspective on things a lot but the immediate feeling afterwards was a combination of relief that he didn't have to endure it any more days like that and an incomprehensible emptiness.

For the most part, whatever seems natural to you is almost certainly right, if you've any spectacularly c*ntish family members stirring ****/blaming people/hogging the limelight, remember your primary focus is on ensuring the person in the bed has the least sh*t death they can, not dealing with someone that's annoying you (there's definitely a limit to what's acceptable from people like that though). You can, have a huge falling out with that other person in a few days if they still have that chip on their shoulder.
