The video was posted in 2012 after Mr Hogan was secretly recorded having sex with his friend's wife.

Apparently Hogan is a massive douchebag, who knew...

Delighted that this will probably put Gawker out of business.

This is the company that refused to take down Hogans sex tape because it was "of public interest" because he is famous but their feminist site "Jezebel" kicked up an unmerciful stink about The Fappening saying that the legal system should step in to have all the images taken down. The same site has gone on numerous witch hunts against people or groups accused of sexism without doing their due diligence and they never apologize when they (often) get it wrong.

They spoke about the pics of Jennifer Lawerence in particular because they claimed it would ruin her career. A couple of months later one of the other Gawker owned sites published the leaked pics of Kate Upton and Justin Verlander and even went so far as to map out where the pictures were taken by matching the dates on the .jpg files to Verlanders baseball schedule.

They once had an article about women being violent towards their partners in the home and it was the most flippant, dismissive, "we'll you know what i mean girls, sometimes they can be annoying :)" thing ever.

During the Hogan case one of the guys involved in the publishing of the sex tape said that they considered it fair publish game to publish sex scandal stuff about any notable celeb "over the age of 4". The lawyer asking the question was legitimately shocked by that answer and asked the guy to confirm his statement and he denied saying it literally ten seconds after he had said it. They even read back the court record of him saying it straight away.

A scummy organisation that shows how clueless some aspects of the "new" media and internet journalism are.

I hope Hogans theme music started playing in the courtroom when the verdict was announced.

Yeah this is being downplayed, but still woeful to publish it.

Was it really recorded on VHS?

Gahhh, I hate how this story has me defending Hulk Hogan so much! Guy's been an incredibly self-absorbed manipulative prick from the get go and part of me's delighted with how it's all caught up with him over the past ten years, but going on nothing but a headline misses a lot of context.

By the accounts of all involved, he was talked into it by his friend (an utter prick of a dude in general, which says a lot for Hogan if that's the kind of person he associates with, but anyways) following his (fairly damn messy) divorce. The friend set up a camera in the room and recorded it without his knowledge (he's heard saying "If we ever need to retire, here is our ticket" at the end of the tape). From what I gather they fell out a few years later and, next thing you know, this tape emerges.

Well let me be clear here. I don't give a flying feck all squared about some yank fake wrestler with an inflated sense of his own importance.

Are you one of those clowns that go to wrestlemania and shout at the bad guy because like its so real dude???

Please try and be civil to other posters.

Yeah, apparently the original $115m was 30m more than the company is worth so the news that there was another 25m going to Hogan has pretty much definitely killed the company unless they can find an investor to save them.

Is there any way Hogan can become the sole owner of Gawker through all of this? Why is the idea of Hulk Hogan owning a major news website really funny to me?

I think they should make that Denton guy be his personal butler for a month. And film it.

Ahhh, Hulk Hogan. A legend in wrestling but also a legendary spoofer :pac:
For all you non-wrestling fans out there here are some examples:

    - He once claimed that Metallica wanted him to be in the band. In which Lars Ulrich (Drummer for metallica) said he never even met Hulk Hogan.
    - He said that Elvis was a massive fan of his. Even tho Elvis died in 1977 and Hogan did not start out in wrestling until 1979.
    - In his book he said he fought George Foreman in a charity Boxer vs Westler match when both men were in their prime. One problem.... there is not one shred of proof he ever did. The event simply never happend.
    - Speaking of George Foreman, the Hulkster claimed the company behind the George Foreman grill first asked HIM to be the face and name of the grill. Again with no shred of proof. But oddly enough he would go on years later to have his own grill called "The hulk hogan grill" (sounds like fiction becoming reality)
    - Claimed he was close to joining the UFC in it's early years. The co-founder of the promotion then stated that was a pure fabrication.
    - He once "out-drank" John Belushi after the Wrestlemania 2 show in 1986. One tiny problem tho... John Belushi passed away in 1982.

So what you gonna do brother :pac:

Think he claims he invented MMA as well.

Also, he overstates Andre the Giants weight by about 200lbs any time he talks about that one time he body slammed him. And he claimed it happened in front of an audience of 100000 people but WWE/F have never had an event with that kind of attendance figure.

He has also repeatedly claimed that his arms are indeed members of the Snake family, Pythons to be precise. Brother :pac:

There is no line between the character Hulk Hogan and man Terry Bollea.

    He has become his gimmick.

Everything is a work with him.

I can imagine his ex-wife will be trying to get him back into court now to get another Pay day.
