I really enjoy Artie Lange's podcast. Just a naturally funny guy.

I've a long list of podcasts I use to get me through the work day and then any long car journies.

Serial series 1 was fantastic, series 2 isn't as good IMO. There is also Undisclosed which is a follow on to Serial and also very interesting.

For my comedy needs I go with Kevin Smith and his Smodcast collection, if you are into him then there are hundreds of hours to catch up on,dont just write them off if you don't like his movies however.

Scroobius Pip and his Distraction Pieces podcast is also a favourite of mine, always has an interesting guest involved which includes Blindboy of the Rubber Bandits this week.

Listen to a couple of work related ones and the news talk football and guardian football. Makes the commute very enjoyable.

So I'm sitting here listening to a podcast from Empire about movies (something I love) and trying to like it. I can't. It's just three people chatting randomly and laughing at their own terrible jokes. And I don't think it's this podcast. I don't think I have the patience to sit through random musings of random people.

But looking through the iTunes store and there are thousands of podcasts on every conceivable topic, so they're obviously popular. Do you listen to any?

How long are the Empire podcasts, & is there one's from Total Film, as sometimes i read either depending on content.

Well Holy God! As much as I like good old Joe, I just don't think even that could get me to watch Darcy! Thanks for the heads up though.

I've yet to hear anything as professional as Sword and Scale but The Trail Went Cold is not far off.

Tend to go on binges of listening to them.

    Favourites include;

    This American Life
    Monday Morning Podcast
    The Doug Stanhope Podcast
    Stone Cold Podcast
    The Partially Examined life
    Sword and Scale
    Hardcore History
    Welcome to the Nightvale
    Snap Judgement

I find that with a lot of podcasts the topics and content can be good but the medium lends itself to people who think they're funnier than they actually are and it kills the podcast. Case in point the Attitude Era podcast.

Big fan of podcasts, listen in the car instead of radio. Most have been mentioned above would also include:
    Criminal
and if you're into running Runner Academy is excellent

Does anyone have any recommendations for short podcasts? 1/2 hour max.

I listen to Bill Burr's podcasts from time to time.

The whole idea of podcasts is fairly new to me but I came across The Joe Rogan Experience on YouTube last year and now I listen to it most days while driving or working. I find a lot of his guests and the topics they cover really interesting and a lot of the time they're funny too.

    Bill Burr's podcast
    Comedy Bang Bang
    Hollywood Handbook
    U Talkin U2 To Me?
    Andy Daly Podcast Pilot Project
    Stuff You Should Know

Basically just light-hearted stuff. Used to listen to Rogan and stuff like that but they can really get up their own hole after a while.

I like No Such Thing as a Fish- from the makers and researchers of QI. Also enjoy Radio Headspace / relaxing if you can get past the irritating accent on the main presenter.

Good podcasts can be a bit like good porn. You can't define it, but you know it when you see it, or hear it in this case. I've had a few favorite podcasts over the years and a good few of them finished up for various reasons. Since then I've listened to some of the contributors of these podcasts on other shows and it just doesn't work. A lot of it is down to humour I suppose. Too many of them are lads trying too hard and failing miserably.

At the moment, I'd listen to Kermode & Mayo, Talking History from Newstalk, In Our Time from the BBC and various amateur games podcasts.

I have been listening to the Jocko podcast of late. He is a retired multi decorated SEAL who commanded during the Battle of Ramadi and led the most highly decorated special operations unit of the Iraq War.

But his podcast is mostly about BJJ which I do - and self discipline and control - and things as mundane as weight lifting and diet. It is an amazing podcast to listen to in many ways - and dull in many ways - and sometimes he becomes a caricature of himself - but I really enjoy it and get a lot from it.
