Broken screen once more on my Mi3 and don't have the heart to replace it for the 3rd or could be 4th time. Wondering if anyone has recently upgraded their phone and is selling an older but still working/good condition phone?

Trade you a working Mi3 and €50 for it?

    In seriousness, are you selling?

The screen has a hairline crack coming from a small chip missing on lower left hand corner of the casing - happened tonight as I was absentmindedly runnig my nail arcross it. The phone has had it's day really - the screen has been replaced at least 3 times. If you're selling a working Mi3 I'd be interested but I'm not sure that's what you mean?

No I was joking. My bird is on the hunt for a phone, Mi3 is still a perfect phone as far as myself or her are concerned so I'd take yours and replace the screen if you were selling it, can replace the screens myself so it is minimal hassle here

Okay I'll have a think about that. I was considering buying a cheap phone to tide me over to give me time to order a new screen, wait for it to be delivered and then pay for it to be fitted. I don't have a fall back unfortunately except for an old nokia

Yes I would be but it would depend on condition and price as I'm also thinking of buying something cheap like this while I get my own repaired.

The Oppo R9 Plus has been released

    4GB Ram/64GB Rom and a 6 inch screen.

The non-plus version seems to have a 5.5 inch and

Very poor rating on Kimovil with a crazy price. Can't imagine that is going to sell too well.

I don't know who buys some of those Oppo phones, at those prices, launching with Lollipop.

Not Unique to Chinese Phones, but anyway. The Xiaomi Piston 3 (Reddot design) are on Banggood for €11.41 Delivered using code 9142ab which is by far the lowest they've been for a long while.

I have these and they're fantastic, however just a note that they are not the latest version of the Xiaomi earphones, which are the in-ear hyrbids seen here: http://www.banggood.com/Original-Xiaomi-Hybrid-Dual-Drivers-Wired-Control-In-Ear-Earphone-Headphone-With-Mic-p-1010328.html

Any got an opinion on the UMI touch that ships on the 20th on march?

Full metal body, marshmallow, good size battery, and lots of other features for around €150

I'm kinda torn between the Redmi Note 3 and the UMI touch

I'd be inclined to wait a while and see what the UMI touch is like after it is released, UMI have had a few issues with newly released phones. Having said that I have been waiting on the Elephone M3 to be released (which might have similar issues). I would go with the Redmi Note 3 over the UMI if you are in a hurry though.

On the Tesco Network, 4G not essential, What I really need is able to sync with calendar, check my bank online, check gmail, google maps essential, oh and I may need it to make and receive calls and texts too:-p CHEERS!

For a big 5.5 inch phone that is a good choice, provided you don't mind the Miui skin on android.

Good build quality and nice and powerful

General question regarding online banking - my Jiayu is rooted - would this be an issue as to why the Ulster Bank app wont fully work. Installation goes fine, but when I try to log in it keeps saying "not connected to the internet" Which it obviously is.

Yes, that can be the issue. I know two of the UK bank apps won't work on a rooted phone. Barclays definitely doesn't.

You can bypass it/hide your root status, but it's not really advisable.

Can you use the website instead?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,016 ✭✭✭✭GBX

Thought as much. I don't think ill bypass the root status. I can still access online banking through the browser so all is not lost.

Seems to be a problem with non big name branded phones when rooted, my last two HTC phone were rooted and I have no problem with banking apps. I used to have a ZTE dual sim phone and always experienced this problem when rooted.

It's not. It's dependant on the bank and whether they implement "root protection".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 259 ✭✭howdoyouknow

Well I've the Ulster bank app running with no problems on my last two rooted phones both HTC and no issues. On the ZTE I had before, once I rooted the phone I could no longer use the app.

Edit: I suppose Ulster bank may just have changed their policies regarding use of the app on rooted devices.

Its not as black and white as mass market phones work, Chinese don't. They hardly implemented those measures for the small percentage of people using Chinese androids?

A few unbranded androids have gotten around root locked apps no problem, I always get caught on MiUi but my Mi3 is fine for them on CyanogenMod and AOSP.

Depends entirely on the phone, ROM and app. Only way to know for sure is test it yourself. I've gotten locked out of the Channel 4 app (forget the name) but gotten banking apps on the same ROM, its entirely subjective.

Just to give some feedback which might help others - I've been looking at the Ulefone Power for a while and decided on Sunday night to order from GizChina shop. Paid the €35 for Eu shipping and no taxes. Was delighted to get it delivered today with DHL.
So far have only been loading everything up over WiFi but the phone looks good. Feels nice and solid and good volume from the speaker when trying out a You Tube video. Fingerprint reader seems to work good (except that I keep forgetting the phone has one!)

Looking forward to trying it over the next few days. But initial impressions are very good.

Might have my iOcean Rock M6752 with 2 batteries (std + 3000 mAh extra capacity battery) for sale soon if anyone is interested.

Can confirm the good impressions of the Ulefone Power - I have it now for about a month and I love it. No issues.

Just wondering if anyone here uses Transparent weather clock on an xiaomi device.. Have an mi4c but can't get the weather to update. Done everything from enabling autostart to reinstalling. Ticked the update after unlocked but nothing. Any ideas?

Does the mi4c have a MTK or a Qualcomm processor?
