I'll put cheesy green clothes on my boys in the morning .. go to work (normal day here) and in the evening I'll be playing tennis, will go home and read/watch TV.... probably won't even have a drink.

I'm going to buy a bag of smack and chase the dragon. Anything goes on Paddy's Day.

Why? Thousands go in without any bother.

Been in a couple of times with tourists for the parade and never had a hint of trouble or hassle and there's a good atmosphere.

    Cause I don't like it.

Thousands of people love S&M too - doesn't mean I'm going to start chaining myself to the bedroom wall any time soon.

    Good relevant comparison there.

It's just the hassle of getting in and out especially when you rely on public transport. More hassle than its worth really.

That's not what was said though.

Dart is handy if you live close to it. No Luas though.

    What was said?

All I said was I'll avoid the city centre.

I didn't even specify why. Now you might be assuming reasons for me not wanting to be in the city centre but I didn't say anything really.

I'm just making the point that people like things that other people don't.

I don't like being in Dublin city centre on St. Patrick's Day - that's a damn good reason for me to avoid it.

It's like asking someone who doesn't want onion soup why they don't want onion soup - thousands of people like onion soup - WHY DON'T YOU? Eh.... because I don't like onion soup.

    Simple really.

Exactly, years I'm back home for it , I avoid the CC like the plague, not because I think there will be any trouble - but the crowds !!!

Same reason I will stay the f*ck away from the GPO when Im back for Easter ...

I've a gig with my band the Living Stream in Galway on Paddy's day so looking forward to that and a bit of cash hopefully too. :)

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

Mr. Brunel's Patent Trolley-Omnibus is just perfect for shindigs like this. Have you ever tried going into a city-centre by car on St. Patrick's Day?? :pac:

I will be doing what I do every St. Patrick's Day- going to the Dog Expo/Dog Show by the airport.

Can't be dealing with parades or drunk people.

Am I mad to be considering a trip to Dublin for a day/night out? Good crew of friends from home heading out for the day up there and was planning on driving up in the morning. Alot of comments here seem to suggest it'll be a disaster of a day to be in Dublin city centre.

Alternative is to head out in my home town for the parade and a few drinks with nothing like the carnage that is being described in Dublin.

What is wrong with changing Patrick's Day to Paddy's Day as that is short for Patrick and used extensively?

Patty's is another matter altogether, seems to come from Americans.

Yeah it's been called Paddy's Day for short for as long as I can remember.

Saint Patrick's Day takes waaay too long to say.

I've never heard it being called Patty's Day, not even in New York on Paddy's Day.

No real interest in parades or getting drunk or watching the sport on TV.

Hopefully the weather will stay good and we can go for a hike or to the beach or something.

I'll be tiling a bathroom and hall floors. The only chance I'll get to do it without plumbers and electricians walking all over the place. I usually have to do this kind of work after 5 or 6 in the evening.

Go swimming, watch sport, clean the house, continue hoping that the little one makes an appearance soon...

I won't be attending Dublin or drinking Guinness as these 2 things have nothing to do with Patricks time in Ireland.
Non Christians have zero right to be celebrating it, it would make you sick.

I'm sure you won't care that TV3 will probably be playing one of your specials so?

St Patrick's Cathedral stands next to the well he where he baptised the Jackeens. So both St Patty and non-Christians where both in Dublin at the time.
