When I get married I don't want anyone fussing about the presents, any old iPhone, hoverboard or kors watch will do.

I'm getting married in July and we're not doing any evening invites. Tbh we find the whole evening invite thing a bit insulting. Like you're not worthy of a proper invite but you're given the privilege of an evening invite. Go way and sh!te, give them nowt ta fook!

They're loathed by many because they're all the same. Ceremony, loooonnnnngggg wait for a meal (haven't we all gorged ourselves on bread baskets whilst waiting for the dinner), band (varying from mediocre to ****e), disco including jems like "dont stop believing" and that bastard!ng "wagon wheel".

For an evening invitation I would put €50 in a card from myself and Mr FC88, that's enough imo.

I'm usually plastered before the meal and absolutely scuttered by 2am!

Got an invitation a few years ago with a poem in it asking for cash! Declined that one!

The worst bit is buying a wedding outfit. Guaranteed never to be worn again! :(

I haven't been to a Wedding yet that I didn't enjoy .......... usually have a great time as a matter of fact.

Food, drinks, music, dancing, family and friends ........ what's not to love about a Wedding!?!!

It's a great day out if you go with the intention of enjoying yourself .......... I wouldn't want people at my Wedding who had the negative attitudes that some people on this thread have ......... I would have thought that if you're invited to a wedding (with the expectation that you will attend) that it'll be the Wedding of someone you love/like who in turn loves/likes you ........ but the way some posters on this thread are talking it's almost as if they dislike, or even hate, the offending couple ......... a lot of resentful, bitter, angry and downright venomous attitudes towards their "loved" ones who dare get married and have the Wedding of their choice ........ they have even been so rude as to invite you to celebrate their special day with them!

    Very strange attitudes altogether ...........

Well with all due respect expecting people who might not be in a position to cover the cost of their meals and entertainment in an expensive venue isn't exactly "small stuff". Each to their own though I suppose.

I don't expect that. I'm not taking gifts at my wedding.
