He was hardly in any state to even attempt to defend himself, he was all over the place, hence why it was so easy on the ground. Im fairly sure had he not been nearly unconscious he would never have given up like that.

Mendes showed up his mat skills the last time too. It's a worry against rda or Edgar.

True, but all the bitter begrudgers that couldn't stand seeing him being successful have suddenly found their voice!!

As one of those begrudgers I have been pretty vocal. I have never liked him. Not because of his success but his behaviour and attitude. Just nice to see him get knocked down a peg.

Devastated and sad for Conor, hope he bounces back stronger

Honestly, all the talk of wrestlers, grapplers, short camp excuses etc. seem true. Conor's a great striker but he has gaps in his game and should never ever fight about lightweight.

I still believe Conor would give Lawlor fits, he was pasting Diaz but was too cocky. He would need to fight smarter though.

I thought mcgregor would have Diaz in round two, but you're dreaming if you think he could beat lawlor.

In Fairness this was a terrible fight to take stupid choice imo.I said it beforehand and it was just stupid to take this fight at 170 retarded completely.

You're deluded, Lawler eats his best shots and KO's him. Diaz ate that left hand and kept moving forward.

No chance. If the shots from Diaz were enough to make Conor go to the ground the shots from Robbie would be a whole other story! Still a fight I'd love to see though.

Not a follower of MMA/UFC but ended up watching it with a few friends after pints tonight. These pals of mine were telling me over the past few weeks this Mc Gregor lad would give Mayweather a good boxing match if they stepped in the ring.
I laughed it off at the time in the assumption they had slightly green tinted glasses on and were caught up in the hype. To suggest someone from a different sport could outbox possibly the greatest boxer of all time was mind boggling.
Then tonight I watch that? No harm to the lad he's got a chin but he's a nothing boxer(in relative terms) someone like Amir Kham would laugh at him never mind Mayweather.
The fight was quite enjoyable though. I might start keeping an eye on it. Is it usually that full on?

Respect that, but can we now expect not to see you again around these parts now you have had your pound of flesh please:)?

I ****in' love him, I'd say this could be the making of him, I actually cheered when Nate landed that punch

Seeing as you asked so nicely...

He was beating the piss out of Nate but the Diaz brothers are very hard to finish. One punch then seemed to stun him. You could see him stumble about after it and Nate smelt blood in the water immediately.

No he wasn't beating the piss out of him!

A lot of things have backfired now from tonight's fight.

I can beat everyone in any division - Nope

Everyone Panic Wrestles against me - You too

    Chin of steel - Nope

I would never tap out. you live or die in the octagon - You tapped out.

I think Conor will reevaluate what he says from now on.

Watching that round back again. Knew Diaz would have the upper hand on the mat but in no world would I have thought Conor would have brought the fight down there.

He was wobbly on his legs and getting hurt. If he could have somehow gotten top position and stalled the round it might have worked out and he would have had a shot at getting recovery time.

Still can't believe he shot for a takedown. Should have just ran for the final 40 seconds until he recovered his senses. At worst he would have gone into the 3rd round at 1-1. He was definitely on queer street at that point though.

Eh I was talking about people posting here. In fact you have kinda proved my point. One of your first posts in this forum is to slate him when he has just been beaten!! :D

Everything is different now, he has lost the aura, his opponents have loads of verbal fuel to use against him and everyone knows he has a massive hole in his game.

Love how the hating people seem to think that this is the end just because he lost? Like, his bubble is burst and he is done now... People, the chap is a fighter haha even Tyson/Ali lost fights!

No he wasn't beating the piss out of him!

Ah now he was in fairness. Nate was a bloody mess. All 3 judges gave him the 1st round and he was winning the 2nd until he got hit. Not that it matters now.

Tyson nearly said ;everyone has a plan till they get slapped in the face

But yeah he should have ran off

Lawler is a proper WW. He walks around at a much higher weight than Conor. He's a much bigger person. Conor isn't Mark Hunt he can't just pack on a load of muscle on his 5'9 frame without severely hampering his fighting ability and cardio.

People need to get into their heads that weight classes are there for a reason.

Fcuking John Kavanagh feeding him steak 6 meals a day. Bound to have an effect!

Not only that but he is still, even after this loss, the most marketable fighter the UFC have on their roster. McGregor can expect plenty more multi million dollar paydays.

Ah now he was in fairness. Nate was a bloody mess. Not that it matters now.

Conor was winning but there was no threat of Nate being KO'd which was significant. Conor spammed that left hand (a bit worrying) but when he landed it Nate ate it and barely flinched. That made it a different fight altogether.

Ah now he was in fairness. Nate was a bloody mess. Not that it matters now.

He was bleeding from his right eye but was taking hits well. Conor didn't protect himself at all against the big hits and paid the price for it.

Conors jiu jitsu or lack of was really shown up there.. he depends on ko power too much. Diaz had 2 weeks training. If I was him I'd stick to the lighter weight and keep the cheques coming.
