I must have gone wrong somewhere as I only had one employer for 42 years. I did plenty of different jobs as I started as a gopher and worked my way to senior management through 6 or 7 departments.

I loved every minute of it!

11 jobs since I left school 13 years ago, although most were part time while I went to college. Most were in various restaurants/ bar work, as well as promotions job, another job involving drinking a watermelon filled with cocktail every night for 3 months in Cyprus, then i was an office goafer, a call centre supervisor, and my current job, which i suppose you'd describe as internal technical support. As long as i dont have to talk to customers again (i have been in customer facing jobs for 16 years), I'm grand. I'm in the company 3.5 years, in my current job a year. I'll probably leave next year and do a bit of travelling, then hopefully do something new.

Would have loved to question you on job 3 whilst interviewing for job 4. Job 3 so out of sync with other 3 jobs.

    4, now on job 5.

    Retail Dunnes
    Retail/admin Dunnes
    Retail Penneys
    Medical admin emergency dept
    Medical secretary private clinic

I am out of school 7 years, only the latter is legit full-time. I graduated after job 1, retrained after job 3 as the degree wasn't helping. Also a combined total of just less than 2 years not working. Doing okay now for the worst affected age group of the recession, finally.

3, since school, but one was a temp and don't really count.

    x-mas work argos.
Part time at a PC/phone repair shop.
    Part-time camchat.

Going back to college in September in hopes of actually getting something decent/respectable. That isn't computer work because I can't do that full-time, fecking awful.

I can count all the jobs on my non existent third hand.

Only had 3 jobs since leaving school, but have been employed the full ten years since that. 3rd is sort of shakey though. Will be looking for job no 4 soon.

I see what your getting at. I generally left that off of CVs and stuff. It was evenings part time and I did it while still in the civil service so no gaps :)

It was great fun. Our dream was for 2 Rollers to come in together and once the owners had disappeared inside we'd race them round the block :D

Is camchat what I think it is?;)

I think 3/4, temping in the summer. Spend most of my time paying people so I can do work, i.e. studying :P

    3 jobs since college ~15 years. 1 year ( fired ! ) , 6 years and 6 years plus about a year unaccounted for :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,801 ✭✭✭Frigga_92

6 jobs since I left school 9 years ago.
Couple of short contracts, next one for 3 years, next one for 15 months (made redundant :( ), next one for 6 months and then I moved across country and in my current job 3 and a half years.
Not bad and they've all been in the same area, just different types of law, so I've built up a load of experience in small offices and the biggest in the country.

*counts on hand* Hmmm.... 4 in the last 9 years since I left school. Most were part-time and largely retail/hospitality. NEVER AGAIN.

4 jobs in over 7 years..since I got out of college.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,331 ✭✭✭Ilyana 2.0

    Just the one :o

I've had the same part-time job since transition year; I've only one year left in college so unless my hours take a nose-dive, there seems little point in leaving.

Six years is a long time to work anywhere, I'm so fed up!

Since school ended in 1990 I was in college for a year followed by going and becoming a nurse in the intellectual disability discipline and, since finishing that, I've worked in a large north Dublin residential centre since then, with a change in role, from nurse to nurse manager, in 2008, and numerous different posts on different units along the way.
But, yeah, I'm in the same field now since 1990, so that's 26 years....
Still, only 11 years to retirement!

Just one right up to retirement. And what a great job it was!

Three jobs since my career started. Lots of roles, but just 3 jobs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,293 ✭✭✭✭Mint Sauce

9 since the age of 18. One of them was part time whilst still at school which then turned to near full time after finishing. A further one was whilst at college which I retuned to three years after finishing school. A third was whilst completing a full time course. In nearly twenty years have spent just over 18 of them in paid work or education.

Have also had 3 paid jobs whilst at school aged 16 to 18.

Only breaks were for a couple months just after I moved to Ireland, a second which I left a job that I was not happy in, and a third after I was made redundant.

Always nice to hear of long term fulfillment in employment. Represents a two way system of trust

    Rarity nowadays.

I haven't had as much luck in proper jobs. Done medical device factory work for 3 and a half years in 2006 after 5 years at a software program course that I didn't pass. Lost the job in 2009, returned to college in 2010, got the level 8 in 2014 and started a temp contract in a bank call centre in Oct 2014. I've been there since, contract up in 3 weeks and haven't heard any update on a new offer yet. Ah well, hope springs eternal
