Irrelevant, Europe is getting the Exynos version, which I believe doesn't support it anyway.

Shouldn't be. Any phone that has Qualcomm should have quickcharge 3.0 as optional

Frustrating that you can't preorder online or in the shop with Meteor. I would prfer to get it in the shop but the earliest I could get there is 3pm, so worry it will be sold out - so will have to try my luck online whatever morning they decide to put it on offer (probably the 11th... meaning I won't get it til the next week. grrrr.)

The Exynos handsets have a quick charge feature too.

''Samsung Fast Charge solution is no different than Qualcomm's Quick Charge 2.0. Samsung uses its own Exynos chipset for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge so you'd reckon they didn't have the luxury of relying on Qualcomm's ready-made solution that comes with Snapdragon processors. Or did they?

After some research we found out that Qualcomm is actually offering their Quick Charge 2.0 technology to third-party OEMs royalty free. All they have to do is integrate the extra Power management integrated circuit into their designs.

The Galaxy S6 duo ships with the same 9V/1.67A chargers that you would get with their certified Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 products such as the Galaxy Note 4. Note that Samsung labels its compatible chargers with "Adaptive Fast Charging."

Has anyone used a good wireless charger?

I like the look of the new Samsung one that is angled rather than flat but I have only seen it on one site and it was over 100e!

I like the angled look and with the always on display it will make a nice bedside clock

    I bought this one.

Supposed to work with the S7 too. This is the exact one Vodafone are giving away with the S7 pre-orders.

I meant for us, since we're getting the Exynos version. That has its own implementation, and does not yet support quickcharge 2.0. At least that's currently what is believed.

I believe the issues comes down to Exynos not yet supporting QuickCharge 3.0 yet.

It may even be issues with the Gear VR, or something entirely not connected to the chipset. Either way, I'm not to bother by it. It was even a feature I was looking for honestly.

Anyone who has played with the phone confirm if the always on display can work in landscape?

Can you get cases that work with the wireless chargers?

    Very decent price there.

The standing wireless chargers do look like a better fit with the always-on display. allows it to become a clock/notification while charging.

Some, depending on thickness. The charger itself also matter.

I believe 5mm is the max range.

I've been able to order off the Samsung site using PayPal and Parcel Motel. Were others having difficulty?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,632 ✭✭✭Thor

I see the Samsung's bluebox deals have started.

It doesn't show it for the s7 on the deals page, but if you try to buy it now, you can get the paypal credit with 0-percent interest.

Sadly, it won't work for us in Ireland, and only applies to UK residents. I know a few people mentioned they would go that route, but doesn't look like any real workaround.

I am unable to get the 0% offer whatever I try :( APR of 14.9% works out at £736.32 in total for the Edge :(

UPDATE: Apparently if you click through in the checkout you get the 0% BUT only for 12 months.

You have to reside in the UK for that as it detects your Paypal country when you log in via paypal.

Used the S7 edge yesterday in PCworld. It is some piece of kit. The speed, screen clarity and classy build quality are just superb.

    Very impressed.
