Would you not do what you normally do on a Sunday? I'm in a relationship and that's what we'll be doing.

But.....but.....thats...thats a terrible idea for a thread

It sure isn't the same as not being alone but you have to make the best of it so you might as well enjoy the bit of self love you give yourself :)

    Fixed it!

Spend the day praying the poor postman doesn't break his back Monday morning bringing me all the valentines cards that were 'delayed' in the post, poor sod!

    Nothing special at all!

I am going to meet up with the love of my life after my barring order expires :)

We will sip martinis under the corsican sun as a serenade her with my own quality rendition of "Good Vibrations"

I just woke up, gonna make myself the Chinesey dessert of honey bananas fried in coconut batter for breakfast :) then go for a nice (and brisk - need to burn the honeyed banana calories!) walk by the sea, get some more good food in on the way, then lounge around, browse the web and plan my next holiday, and generally treat myself adoringly! It's the only way to not feel like you're missing out as a singleton ;)

    Happy Valentine's everyone!

I rented someone for the weekend. I used escorts.IE

    Fun weekend, reasonable rates.

Not all single people though :)
Oh yeah I know - today is going to be the same Sunday for me as any Sunday. I will admit I do feel a bit of a pang on Valentine's day if I'm single, but it would be pointless to get upset about it imo (unless as I said, heartbreak/recent break-up). I'm single all the other days too - why zone in on just one?! :pac:

It's the one time of year i am glad to be single. The pressure I see some lads putting on themselves for it is ridiculous.

A large pinch of salt needed there too. Those Valentine legends have no proof whatsoever.

It's just another day for many - whether alone or not.

I'm heading out with a group of friends. Just so happens we are all free and in the same vicinity for the first time in months and so decided why not.

    Party time.

Does anyone really actually care about valentines?
I always thought it was just an excuse for people in relationships to have a row!

Some people do care about Valentines. It's an excuse to be romantic. One year he sent me chocolate, a teddy, flowers, a balloon all that. It was nice.

It is lovely, especially early in a relationship, but part of me does think there's an element of "it's the done thing, you have to because someone said so and everyone else is doing it". I think such gestures can be made any day.
However a day celebrating love and romance in general is hardly a bad thing.

Yeah it really can become "just the done thing" and I think that kinda ruins it. Half of me wants the fuss and half of me thinks why do I want the same thing I see all my friends getting.

You all have me thinking now about my perfect idea of a valentines day.

I'm not a chocolates and teddy kind of girl. Cook me a lovely dinner and take me to the sea for a walk underneath the stars. Buy me that book I had my eye on.

    Ah well :)

god don't give it any thought.
based on what i hear, a lot of those couples are out and visible just so that their 'love' can be seen by all. how many are truly sitting in some restaurant, eating some overpriced meal having paid for some overpriced flowers and wishing to god they were at home.

don't cry into the cat op, you'll only wet his/her fur. valentines day ain't worth that:)

    Single for now.

Got up around 9, met a friend, we made jam (no innuendo, actual jam), I watched the rugby with no interruptions.

Now I'm in work for a little bit to get a head start on the week (couple hours today saves me a whole day later in the week).

I'm sure it would have been lovely to have a partner today to spend the day with, but if you need a special day for that, you're doing it wrong.

Yerra, it's one day of the year. It won't you to be single. T'is not the end of the world.

I generally don't give much thought to Valentine's Day. I've been single for nearly 7 years and whilst that is a slightly depressing fact, I don't wallow in it. My mother has a tradition of treating it as a day to show love to the family so that's what I tend to do.
Simple gestures, really- for example, last week my mother spotted a dress in Dunnes that she liked but she didn't have the money to buy it there and then. I ended up going back and buying it for her on the sly and she was made up.
My stepdad gave me a bag of Haribo and my mother rounded out the day by cooking a lovely steak dinner with all the trimmings before we all sat down in front of the tv with a few glasses of wine and some Lovejoy re-runs.

I've never not been single on Valentine's day.
Or Christmas day. Or my birthday. :( #foreveralone

But I've ordered a spice bag, which should hopefully arrive soon. At least comfort food loves me.

6am: poem writing - romantic themes
8am: watch all of the twilight movies
    noon: pick some roses
2pm: make dinner - chocolate theme
4pm: record a love song on my guitar
    8pm: draw a composition - romantic themes
11pm: relax with a romantic novel

same thing I do ever valentines day.
