Gilroy burned defenders with pace and made a break on the outside. Haven't seen a wing do that since Shane Williams

Great effort and some lovely attacking play only to be ruined by silly mistakes is the story of the half

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,972 ✭✭✭captbarnacles

5-3 is not quite a reflection of that half lol

The ginger prince coming on at half time.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,256 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

Calling it now, Glasgow are going to win here.

Lots of mistakes and lack of composure.
How many times have we saw the same thing.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,059 ✭✭✭Sinbad_NI

    C'mon Ulster

More magic from Gilroy, his break made that try

    Gilroy is amazing.

    He really is.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,256 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

Delighted for Black too, try on his 100th cap

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,972 ✭✭✭captbarnacles

    Reminds me of Shane Williams.

Barnes trolling boards by bringing up Gilroys lack of caps.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,830 ✭✭✭Utah_Saint

Ffs Gilroy cut out that flair and ability. Do you ever want an Ireland cap again.!?

  • Registered Users Posts: 697 ✭✭✭rsh118

Hallelujah! Gotta keep it rolling now.

    Deserved try.

Why not just get the ball out of the scrum immediately when you under pressure???

Depressing that attacking flair seems to be overlooked at international level but their loss is Ulster's gain.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,256 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

Olding just casually jogged there and still broke the line :pac:

Marius has been refereeing pro12 a few seasons. 4/5 seasons in pro12 I think...

    low scoring but entertaining rugby

I'm sending Marshall an invoice for my losing Ulster -7.5 bet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,899 ✭✭✭✭BBDBB

Crazy few minutes of play. Great entertainment

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,972 ✭✭✭captbarnacles

    Gilroy deserves a try

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 63 ✭✭Icarus9

Why are Ulster becoming completely unable to finish off huge overlaps!? I sat in the stands last week looking at 2 or 3 man overlaps that were wasted by crashing up and losing it and again there Marshall making a hash of a huge overlap!
Stockdale looks impressive but lacking some pace to play wing? Couldn't burn a number 8 there

Nah, Stockdale for Ireland! Drop Heaslip!

ulsters ball protection/retention in contact is awful

  • Administrators Posts: 54,256 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

I think Stockdale is knackered and he had just literally ran the full length of the pitch.

13-5 Ulster with 13 mins left. Surely they can see this out. Gilroy hattrick would be nice for the TBP

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,899 ✭✭✭✭BBDBB

    Earls would have scored it

    (Am I doing it right? :D )

Precisely what we Ulster fans expect from him every week. In fact, it's rare he doesn't get 5, amiright lads?

  • Administrators Posts: 54,256 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

I like how this ref isn't afraid to make a decision without needing to wait 2 minutes on a TMO.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 413 ✭✭postitnote

Problem is Ulster are playing in Glasgow's 22. Gilroy prefers to score his tries from halfway.

    Another chance gone begging

    Great defending

Worst attempted conversion I've ever seen. Didn't even reach the posts.

    Good win for Ulster

We'll take that win. Bonus point is a kick in the stones but the view from the top of the table is great!!

Great result against glasgow. Certainly an improvement on the start of the season, but Ulster's decision making was poor at times. Lost too much ball at the breakdown and Marshall is like an overexcitable puppy prone to massive brainfarts.

Onwards and upwards. Another good game for Olding too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,884 ✭✭✭✭mfceiling

McCloskey just makes yards at will in contact. Olding looks handy at 15 too. With a full deck of backs you have to wonder why Piteau was signed....not complaining as you can never have too much class.

Poor performance but great to get the win when everything's not firing right.

The trouble as I see it is this. Winning is fine but those last 3 wins were awful. Mince against Treviso, kakk squared against the Dragons - a team bullrooted at home by Connacht - and tonight's misery against a weak Weegies. Poor play, poor concentration, low skill levels and one missed opportunity after another. Then to let the opposition in at the death for a bonus point is extrakakk. Kiss will be irate - in his gentlemanly way. Enough chances wasted to get a bonus point win. It's not even a weak side Ulster put out ffs.

Had to give a thanks for using the term bullrooted. Haven't called anyone a bullroot from I was 15!!

9 and 10 is a problem. I think it's a bit much to expect Jackson to arrive back in Belfast on a Thursday night, come off the bench and completely sort us out.

Marshall and Humphreys (as well as Windsor) are major, major problems.

Even if we are missing just one of Pienaar or Jackson we are in diffs.

I know what you're saying but as good as our backs are Piutau is better than anything we have. He is that good. This is a guy who man of the match playing for NZ in SA.

Also while you know and I know that Coetzee is the most important signing we have made this year, believe you and me Piutau will put bums on seats.

I genuinely can't wait until next season. I just hope we don't suffer as many injuries.

The common denominator in most games where we have struggled this year has been a lack of Jackson. He is the single most important player in our squad...by a country mile.

Been a tough watch this last few weeks. Glad tonight's was on Sky --> radio for me.
Team has been consistent and strong which just makes it all the more depressing and concerning.

I still hope Kiss can reduce this lack of focus and concentration or whatever it is, going forward to the end of the season and beyond.

Yes...and Pienaar has been indifferent really. Alan O'Connor is a great young player. Olding was good and Gilroy was superb - particularly on such a sheeite night weather wise.
