Ulster take on Glasgow tonight in a repeat of last years semi final when Ulster lost out narrowly with a late Glasgow try.

Stuart Olding gets a run out at fullback with the opportunity to show what he can do attacking from deep. Cave and man-of-the-season McCloskey make up the midfield and Stockdale takes his place on the wing again after an iffy performance last week.

The Duke / Barbara gets his first start for Ulster at 10 and all eyes will be on him. By all accounts he is genuinely pish poor, but questions remain whether or not it's actually possible to be worse than Ian Humphreys. Tonight will go some way to proving whether or not this is possible.

In the pack Ulster look pretty decent with Callum Black getting his 100th cap and VDM returning after a rest last week. Chris Henry makes a return to the bench.

Also on the bench is Paddy Jackson, fresh out of Carton House having honed his tackle bag holding skills.

    Prediction

    Ulster will win this.

Can't wait to see whether it's Windsor Castle or Windsor dog track tonight.

At least Jackson will be well able to take a tackle tonight, whilst we can picture what Coetzee and Piutau will look like in white.

    + For the signings

    - For the lack of Gusher to let us know who went to Methody

You'd think he'd have learned how to do it by now. If you're at the match awec, see if he holds them during the warm up and give us your assessment on him if you can. :pac:

Good to have another Ulster man on these boards, especially one who understands nuances such as gusher and his love of all things methody.

We may be the only fans in the country who don't find endless scrum resets boring because Jim will always enlighten us as someone's uncle he met, or whose Granda was a sterling full back for RBAI.

If anything, it's the bits where he doesn't have to talk about live action rugby that bring out the best in gusher. Ulster matches would genuinely be pants without him.

Let's hope they start better than last week.

Really like the balance between Olding and Gilroy alongside McCloskey and Stockdale. Gives the oppo backline a lot to think about especially as positions become fluid.

I know it's early, but based on that driving maul in the last line out I'd be tempted to go for touch rather than the posts

Oops did I put the mockers on him

  • Administrators Posts: 53,459 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

McCloskey and O'Connor played like two guys who haven't trained together all week there. Misunderstanding on whose man it was.

Is the sound a bit choppy for anyone else?

Do you like this ref awec?

  • Administrators Posts: 53,459 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

This sound is pickling my head. Keeps breaking up.

And yea, Mitrea is a pretty decent ref actually.
