Apologies if a thread on this exists.

Gruesome viewing on it tonight. I believe that man was humiliated on National Television. Why the poor man (or anyone) would put himself in that position in the first place is a mystery, but it was not right to show it, IMO!

How was the poor man humiliated so to speak?

Because he appeared on an RTE show or what happened? I do not watch the show but am familiar with its concept.

Is this a future thread about Enda Kenny in tomorrow nights debate?

No idea what you're on about OP. People here read books and don't watch TV.

Come on mate. I'd quite like to know why he was humiliated on national television but you're giving me nothing.

This isn't Game of Thrones. Not everybody watches this heap of you know what, so not everybody is going to know what you're on about. Can anybody shed light on why the chap was humiliated?

it will probably be on the player (shouldn't be though) and a picture paints a thousand words ..........bloody nasty it was (again IMO)

Once they include the 'Kenny' bit, I'm cool with it.

Given he is up against Meehole, I doubt Enda will be quaking in his boots.

Anyway, what happened to the guy on RTE tonight?

I'd much rather RTE spent my money on making a show called Operation Transformers where two groups of people set out to make a giant robot and at the end of the series have them both fight to the death!

Same here. Sounds like a winner.

I thought he sh*t himself on the scales or something after reading this.

There's nothing nasty or humiliating about gaining 1.5 lbs. Weight loss is hard but it's nigh-on impossible if you beat yourself up over setbacks. This leads to self-sabotage and a relapse into old habits. I suppose it's much more upsetting when your weight gain is televised, which probably explains the tears, but you need a very thick skin for weight loss - a capacity to get back on the horse immediately - and this fella seems to lack a bit of stoicism.

Ffs, I thought it would be something like losing control of his bowels too (or worse). Strange idea of shocking. The OP's indignation has to be feigned.

Poor guy though - sad to read of him getting upset.

Probably didn't do enough of those 2kg water bottle bicep curls Karl Henry set out for him.

I assumed they tackled Karl Henry on how many triathlons he pulled out of.

    Has he finished one yet?

Not that any single person who watches Operation Transformation would ask that.

    Ha ha. Expand on that!

Used to be a topic of fun on the athletics forum, analysis of his performances in events. He seemed to have racked up a fair few DNFs.

I think that's John's problem, he takes this quote literally....

It's Operation Patronisation. I wouldn't watch it in a fit. I can't stand the notion that the country is behind these people, in their bid to lose weight. I'd rather have my mental health than be a bit overweight. If I went on that, I'd lose my self respect because of those patronising b@stards who judge you. I also can't stand that raucous, over enthusiastic Kathryn Thomas. Go off and marry your garda or whatever

Dammit, I was thinking of a way to describe it dismissively and express my contempt...and you managed it in 2 words. But I will steal it!
