I was going to go out and buy a ticket earlier. Then I decided to stay on the couch instead. Now I'm convinced that had I gone I would have bought the winning ticket. Great.. :o

    :D

I've wondered about this sort of thing in the past - say 20 people in company and 10 of them win millions each the outrage and resentment would be only massive :pac:

Something slightly similar happened near me years ago. There was a syndicate in a pub going for ages, won nothing, people gradually started to fall out of it until in the end only the publican was left. He kept doing the numbers himself. Lo and behold, he won the jackpot.

Caused a lot of friction. A lot!

(I had zero sympathy for them)

    It's a small country. It's probably your 3rd cousin:pac:

If it is, well let me publicly just say that they are my favourite 3rd cousin and I have always thought very highly of them.

Considering how little I even know my first cousins I think for me it would have to be a parent or a sibling before I'd be sure of a wedge!!

I'd love to win multiples of 'fúck you money'. Sadly my policy of doing the lottery about 2 times a year didn't result in me winning this as I never even thought of doing the euromillions.

    Jealous.

    Phew.

I don't know anyone from Dundalk so that makes me feel a whole lot better.

Nothing worse than someone you know winning the lotto.

As long as I've known Mrs String (a long time) she thinks the exact opposite.

She reckons it'd be far more hassle free for a family member or close pal to win, who would possibly go on to clear your debts (mortgage) and give you a hefty deposit.

All the thrills, none of the hassle she reckons

I didn't win :( and I had it all planned out...

    - Call on Monday morning to let them know and arrange to go collect it after a week or so when the attention dies down
    - Say nothing to anyone.. this is key!
    - Collect it.. with 66 mil, immediately bank 50 of it. This has to last you a long time. Get good financial advice and don't splurge in the meantime
    - Wait another few weeks and then hand in your notice saying you got a new job (thus avoiding begging and dozens of new friends)
    - Work out your notice and leave on good terms
    - Enjoy your life! Then tell those (few) who you want to

Oh well.... next time for sure!! :p

I have won in 2 out of the last 4 draws, €5 and €4.
Won €125 in November when I matched 4.

Nothing tonight, hope a relation won or a neighbour who wants my farm and will pay anything to buy it :P

It would be easy to spend €66 million.

Buy a very nice home in Manhattan for lets say €20 million, and build a very nice home in the Irish countryside.
€20 million into investments, half of which have a dividend.
    €10 million into deposits accounts.
maybe €6 million pocket money for luxuries and day to day living.

I don't think 66 million is too much for one winner - you could make a lot of people happy with that kind of windfall and still be delerious yourself. As for anonymity and trying to keep it quiet that would be hard to do as well. I'm sure locals would suspect I'd won - although I would try to stay quiet it wouldn't be easy to hide the new found wealth.

The euromillions is the dream ticket - a lifetime/possibly more, of wealth in an instant for a line at 2 euro - the jackpot builds quickly too and it's worth the odd punt (pardon the pun)

Better than our slightly suss lotto draw at the moment imo -

    Ticket sold in Dundalk.

How do you know that as the Lotto don't release that information....unless it was you who won it? :D:D:D:D:D

I had it all planned out to spend an all :(
20m for me to live on
10m each in an account for the 2 kids
26m devided between my family and friends to clear mortgages and buy houses etc.

On the bright side I won €4 but I think I'll keep it all for myself haha

    Anonymity is easy.

Does anyone know who won the 13 or so millions on the Irish Lotto in Belmullet yet? And that's a close rural community.

Anyway if I ever won I would "make" it into a sydicate. Put my siblings and mother to sign the ticket and happy out.

NO TAX ON GIFTS that way, and they can do what they like with it.

But I rarely buy a ticket, so the chances are slim!!

But the euro millions was €130 million so that kinda skews your odds, never mind actual players/lines played.
    There's massive variables involved...

As if the odds weren't bad enough, you're zippling them by zillions
