    My phone just vibrates...

Email stating "important info about your lottery account"

Cool, apparently I won a prize, check lotto results, ok one Irish person has won the Euro millions(on closer inspection shared with someone else)

Start to get a bit nervous....

Check my account. €12. (From an €8 entry)

Whoever it is that won it. Enjoy.

Don't let it fcuk your life up. :D

I got the "News about your National Lottery Account" email too. I've never gotten it so early either.

    4 feckin' euro. FFS.

It won't ruin my life, it'll barely pay for a takeaway. :)

I always get them the following morning. It's always €4 too, bar one €30 the other week.

It would absolutely destroy my life and I'd love every minute of it!

    Won a scratchcard last week:(

I bet it was my job who won, I'm out sick this week so I wouldn't have been entered into the syndicate. It'd be just my luck that id have to go back to work, and there'd be a whole new bunch of staff cos everyone else would have fcuked off

    It's a small country. It's probably your 3rd cousin:pac:

We had a syndicate at work today with two thirds of the employees taking part. If we won then then the company would have to close down.

Bet it's some scrote scumbag that won it .

It's probably another rich person that won it and of which doesn't need it. I didn't even get one number.

I've wondered about this sort of thing in the past - say 20 people in company and 10 of them win millions each the outrage and resentment would be only massive :pac:

I know this lad who runs a couple of garages and he absolutely forbids syndicates of any kind for that very reason.

I bought a 3 euro ticket tonight so its not me:(

If it's the syndicate in work that I don't take part in I will probably sit and stare into the distance for a few hours.

Me too Neon, was fantasizing today about how I was going to spend the winnings - this involved initially redirecting the road outside my house so nobody could drive or walk passed and then making a private road at the back (just simple stuff ;)) - and then after work sat down and realised it was 8:15 and I had forgotten to purchase a ticket and to rub salt in the wounds it was shared in Ireland - It should've been me or Neoncookies...

Something slightly similar happened near me years ago. There was a syndicate in a pub going for ages, won nothing, people gradually started to fall out of it until in the end only the publican was left. He kept doing the numbers himself. Lo and behold, he won the jackpot.

Caused a lot of friction. A lot!

(I had zero sympathy for them)

Considering how little I even know my first cousins I think for me it would have to be a parent or a sibling before I'd be sure of a wedge!!

I'd love to win multiples of 'fúck you money'. Sadly my policy of doing the lottery about 2 times a year didn't result in me winning this as I never even thought of doing the euromillions.

    Jealous.

    Phew.

I don't know anyone from Dundalk so that makes me feel a whole lot better.

Nothing worse than someone you know winning the lotto.

As long as I've known Mrs String (a long time) she thinks the exact opposite.

She reckons it'd be far more hassle free for a family member or close pal to win, who would possibly go on to clear your debts (mortgage) and give you a hefty deposit.

All the thrills, none of the hassle she reckons

I didn't win :( and I had it all planned out...

    - Call on Monday morning to let them know and arrange to go collect it after a week or so when the attention dies down
    - Say nothing to anyone.. this is key!
    - Collect it.. with 66 mil, immediately bank 50 of it. This has to last you a long time. Get good financial advice and don't splurge in the meantime
    - Wait another few weeks and then hand in your notice saying you got a new job (thus avoiding begging and dozens of new friends)
    - Work out your notice and leave on good terms
    - Enjoy your life! Then tell those (few) who you want to

Oh well.... next time for sure!! :p

I have won in 2 out of the last 4 draws, €5 and €4.
Won €125 in November when I matched 4.

Nothing tonight, hope a relation won or a neighbour who wants my farm and will pay anything to buy it :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,761 ✭✭✭✭RobertKK

It would be easy to spend €66 million.

Buy a very nice home in Manhattan for lets say €20 million, and build a very nice home in the Irish countryside.
€20 million into investments, half of which have a dividend.
    €10 million into deposits accounts.
maybe €6 million pocket money for luxuries and day to day living.
