I was believing this and getting angry about it... And the worst bit is now I remember laughing at it back in April. :pac:

Feck, I really need to get some sleep before I start replying to emails from Nigerian princes promising me millions of euro.

Seriously .. great as it is celebrating the rising. The f**king thing cost enough to put on O'Connell Street. They are going to waste another €500000 to move it for 2 weeks. Spend it on something more worthwhile.. give it to the homeless or needy!

Give it the the homeless? They would be better of spending that money building a modern day Auschwitz and burning all the homeless and the junkies. Its the only truly effective way of eradicating this vile scum from our glorious streets.

Aside from anything else it actually made sense to remove it to recover the old streetscape for the celebrations. :pac:

Well if its something we have all learned from this, A lot of boardsies don't read down after the first few posts ,Gas it was reading this this morning,

My own opinion is that when they take it down they should replant it in ballymun,.with the towers gone n all that it be like a homecoming for the muners.

It is terrible though and I'm sure many Dubs would agree with me. Get rid of it for good. I always found it so disgusting walking down the main street of the nation's capital and seeing that monstrosity.

Tis an awful shame Nelsons Pillar is gone. Apparently it was construced with dimensions to blend in & match the surrounding architecture in height, width, girth, type of stone, and decoration!

If only they had taken Nelson off the top and replaced him, while leaving the Pillar intact.

The spire is too skinny, too shiny & too tall.

Great to get a little craic out of the 1916 HooHa. :)

Am I the only person that is totally fed up with it by now?

It's functionless with very limited tourist draw

They should extend it and then lay it across the sea to England and then we could get to the promised land more easily!

The Spire is an excellent piece of sculpture. Much, much better than what wasn't there before.

    Will they be using explosives?
    No, just expletives.

Apparently they used lots of them in 1916, and hurleys.

It's a shame we rarely have the weather for torchlit rallies.
