Missus had Bondi Rescue on the tv there (I think she likes looking at the buff lifeguards). Its an old episode cos Steve Irwin is in it. But one of the lifeguards was Matt Burke, former international with the Wallabies!

One of the top programmes in chez MF!!

On the house buying front for France....

Carcassonne is beautiful and the canal du midi is one of the nicest regions in France that I've ever been to.
Another option is Annecy...not sure how close to a major rugby team you'd be but throw it into Google images - stunning, and a stones throw from mont blanc.

I have an accumulator on all the road teams this weekend. Surely my luck runs out now!

Packers losing to the Redskins would be a fantastic story of an underdog team coming through and a great reward for the likes of Cousins and Reed who have had excellent seasons. Hope they stuff the Packers!

Rodgers has had an absolute horror show of a season, not helped by injuries to his O-line. Looks like he's continuing it into the playoffs.

Feel it in my bones that Arizona will lose their opening round game... might put a small wager on it once the prices come out.

Have we finally got a pinup for the forum that doesn't resemble the gaunt Matthew Grey Gubler (aka Awec) ?

Can't see it happening if it's the Redskins. As much as I want them to win tonight, they're going to struggle if they go to the Cards. They topped their division with a 9-7 record but not a single one of those wins came against a team with a winning record this season.

Jordan Reed and Kirk Cousins continuing their love affair. Reed having a huge game.

Cousins is absolutely balling. GB need to wake up. Another nail bitter here I suspect.

Rodgers is one cute hoor when it comes to catching teams with 12 on the field. That's a massive first down considering how they've been struggling.

He does it again and throws a TD with the free play. Class!

My logic is actually the Cards performance last week; they took the foot off the gas at home in their final game against the Seahawks because the result didn't affect their playoff standing. How often do you see teams struggle to get the momentum back once they ease off for a period.

I'll wait and see the price, but if I can get more than 5/1 or 6/1 on the visiting team I'll be tempted.

I'd be astounded if you got those odds on either the Packers or 'Skins going to Arizona. One off match in the playoffs doesn't really generate those sort of odds.

The patchy Seahawks at the top seeded Panthers are 13/10, for example. If one of them is 5/1, I'll be throwing a few quid on myself.

Small matter of said patchy team making it to the last two Superbowls which I'm sure is affecting that price.

Steelers 3.4 away to the Broncos is getting up into the territory I'd be expecting for whoever plays in Arizona.

Another TD for Green Bay, boom! 11-0 to 11-17.

I'd be tempted to say Greenbay have this but this weekend has been so crazy thus far!

It's mad how NFL stadia empty so quickly once the home crowd know their team is going to lose.

If one were inclined to buy a house or apartment in France, where would people recommend?

A town that satisfied as many of the following criteria as possible:

    Has a Top-14 team
    Near the sea
    Good weather in summer
Near mountains for skiing in winter
Easy to get around, ideally centre-ville within walking distance
Nearby airport with flights to the UK/Ireland

First question would be budget. The mountains are only a couple of hours from anywhere in the SE and you'll need at least a weekend for skiing so it would make more sense to be based close to the coast for day trips to the beach. But it's the most expensive part of the country and the only top 14 team is Toulon.

Bordeaux, then, or Montpellier. Perpignan if they get promoted.

Packers coming in at 5/2 and 9/4 on the big betting sites which is about right. Still tempting but low enough.

    One of the greats.

He really was. Gutted to wake up to the news and didn't realise he was so ill.

He was one of the greatest ever and his music still sounds superb.

She also recognised Matt Burke, very good knowledge of rugby...

    True dat!..... Better than Zzippys rugby knowledge :) ;

Considering how many of them drive and the monstrous parking lots I'm guessing traffic is an absolute nightmare getting out of the stadia.

An absolute legend. Really sad. I had no idea he was even sick. Though my wife said she seen a picture of him a few months ago and he looked in poor health. May he rest in peace

Pretty much. I've been to NBA games in MSG where there'd be very few people driving relative to the size of the crowd and the place would be near empty by the end of the game when the Knicks are well behind.

US crowds turn on their teams with alarming speed. The Texans got into the playoffs for the first time since 2012 and were booed off the field at half time when 13-0 down and the game was still completely there for the taking.
