Don't talk to me about CeX ffs. "Just going to put it in for testing, it will be about 30 mins"
    .
    .
    .
    .
"It might be another 20 mins"
    .
    .
    .
"Sorry I think he's testing it now, can you call back in 30 mins?"
    .
    .
    .
I'll call back tomorrow I said.
    .
    .
Next day, "Sorry we don't actually buy sound cards"

What's the max speed the Virigin Media Thompson router can push out over Wi-Fi? I'm on the 120 mbps package and only get a maximum of 50 mbps through my laptop with dual band wifi. It's the same story with my phone. The router is set to 802.11 wireless N.

Is this just because the router is sh*t or is there a wireless setting I can change? thanks.

Speed varies based on time of day and also location. The WiFi should still be able to handle way more than 50Mbps so I'm assuming it's the speed in. Try an ethernet cable to test the difference over wire?

Just had to plug my GTX980 classified in the pcie x 4 slot
Done a bit of reading dont think its going to be a big deal loosing some bandwidth
My PSU was about 5 mm too long, so had to fit the card on the other slot, then i had to remove a fan:eek: to get it too fit, now i have to find a very low profile fan, because im not buying new psu

Picture? I'm not too sure what's going on here. How does PSU length affect which PCI slot you use?

It actually should be OK at 4X - you probably won't really notice the difference even compared to 16x at 1080p on the majority of games. Obviously not ideal but in the short term I don't think it's anything to worry about.

    Seems very reasonable to me!

Went into CEX today to trade in an old GTX560Ti, left it with them for testing, came back and was told it had failed the test.

Really, I said, that's surprisingly because it was working perfectly until I brought it in here - how did it fail? I was told it was overheating.

Like turning off, I asked? Shutting down? No, the guy said, it just reaches super high temperatures way beyond what we can accept.

    This mad temperature? 70c.

They sell crazy mad power hungry hot cards there, GTX470, GTX480, HD6990, etc, so there is no way that 70c could be a standard! But the guy wasn't having any of it, 70c is overheating and they can't take it.

I sold in my 290X to CEX. That thing idled at 70 degrees.

I'd say just bring it to another one of their shops if you have one near.

Does anyone know if there's somewhere in the South East, Waterford/Wexford preferably that I could pick up one of these in a b&m store tomorrow? I'll try PC World but doubt they'll have them.

I get the full 120 mpbs speed over Ethernet, so it seems to be something WiFi related. Other devices also seem to be capped at 50 mbps when doing speed tests over wifi. Really weird :o

If ya think that odd, I tried selling my old AMD 5870 to them and was told...

    1) They had no machine with a power supply high enough to test it on at the Westmoreland Street branch

2)It failed the smell test (he actually smelled it) which ment it had been previously used

I have a shiny, new r9 390 here and not able to use it is tearing me apart ha :D

There's one in Galway. You'd probably pay about 6 grand and your first born for basically anything in Maplin though...

Did you not have a molex to 8 pin connection?

Separate question, does any one know if GTA v runs faster on an ssd? No problems with running the game just load time.

It'll run at basically the same speed if you mean in terms of FPS, there may be a slight increase, but not massive.

The SSD will only really help the game itself load faster when you start it up.

I did but wasnt positive the old PSU had enough to run both cards

In terms of load times pretty much every game is way faster.

For GTA the SSD will speed up single player load times a good bit alright but for online I'm not so sure. Online load times for gta are just ridiculous, I think it's down to their servers.

Cheers lads its the load time drive me nuts love the game just those load times... I don't need any more fps I only have a 60hz screen so theres no point.

I have it, put the EVGA SuperNova G2 750W into it and fits perfectly, the 950W should fit just fine too.

The case it damn near perfect and I highly, highly recommend it.
