who is talking about a collapse?

Probably Fox News, they've been waiting 14 years for a chance to peddle something about fires falling skyscrapers

A former police commissioner from New York on CNN. Says when the intense heat will do to the builing similar to what happened the WTC.

    Both insisted on top billing.

Names appeared together, one higher on the right than the other lower on the left screen.

    Worse than that.

They both had to get the exact same screen time and lines of dialogue.

Can you imagine how goddamn annoying that would have to be for anyone working on the movie?

Switched to Fox for about 15 seconds, the first sentence I heard contained both the 'Gulf war' and 'ISIS'. I was genuinely impressed how they were able to fit them into 1 sentence about a fire.

I hope they get the same guy back tomorrow when the building hasn't collapsed at the speed of gravity.

The way it falls down (if it does) will be entirely down to the type of construction, fireproofing and adherence to the specifications when building.
In other words, the circumstances are very different to those that brought down the world trade centre, plus there was no massive explosion to remove the fire protection from the structure.

Steve McQueen and Paul Newman were absolute divas on that movie.

That's saying something for the cast of that movie, it's quite the who's who of 1970s Hollywood. Even OJ Simpson and The Man from Uncle made an appearance.

Meanwhile, La Roux and New Order are ****e on TFI.

They used helicopters in the film, I remember after 9/11 people were questioning why helicopters were not used as part of the rescue effort. Here's the trailer...

Those buildings are built to withstand a 9/11 scale explosion

I'd say the sheiks are watching that and going "jaysus lads to ye think we're made of water?"

There's a big difference between an external fire - which this is - and an internal fire that engulfed the WTC. This is just a skin burn.

I'm sitting here in dublin with my brother who lives in dubai and he builds them. He knows this building well and says it's just superficial. It's so over engineered in concrete, the building will be fine.

He's a contracts manager that built some of the biggest projects in dublin.

A curtain on the 20th floor of the hotel is suspected of having caught fire and burning down the hotel.

Seriously? A curtain going on fire supposedly caused the entire building to become engulfed in flames?

Looking at the pictures I don't see how there can't be any serious injuries or deaths. I wonder will they count the staff of the hotel, lots of whom will be low paid immigrant workers, in their figures. Highly doubtful.

Reports say the repair bill for the materials could run into millions of UAE Dirhams, and at least a few hundred for the labour.
