Dad bought a load of auto trader books back when he was buying the pajero. Found a load of them there today, including the one of our jeep. So much better descriptions online compared to the books.

I'm curious what exactly is funny in those magazines.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,546 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

Yeah, the mgf features heavily in this one, I bought it on eBay because it had a review of the FTO in it.

gvidor, I know you have fluent English, but like your thread on the word "grand" , funny can either mean strange or humorous, in this case it's strange, things have changed a lot in 20 years as regards journalism and advertising.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,925 ✭✭✭GvidoR

Yeah, I'm aware the word "funny" can be used in different ways. Perhaps I just didn't put my question together very well, either way you answered the question. :P

I was just hoping for a few quotes or something.

Always had a soft spot for those mgf's my dad had one for years in British racing green with a 1.8 vvc 145bhp engine lovely car. Actually I'd be tempted to by a mg tf whenever I get space to store it in a few years would make a lovely summer / weekend car and they are very cheap these days a 160bhp trophy version would be a great car to own for tiny money.

I will have to get a house with loads of driveway / garage space as it is just going to be full up of various cars well that the dream anyway :)

I've found the scanner apps on the phone to do a very good job, but, whatever you're comfortable with. :)

Sounds like a clean car you wouldn't mind having to do a few small things to get it perfect. Really nice colour too I'd imagine it would look great when polished up :)

Well wear with it. They're still a fresh looking car.

There's the usual nick on the passenger rear quarter corner that seems to be on every single focus in Ireland :pac: Definitely think a trip to Spirit detailing is in order.

It's getting its T/b done on tuesday too so should be happy motoring for the next while until I get bored again :D

Have work at 7. First time working Xmas eve since I was 16. Also the first time it hasn't felt like Christmas since I was 15. Spent it in Lanzarote that year. Disaster!

So Evans announced who the other 2 presenters will be... Chris Harris and Sabine Schmitz. Oh and Coulthard is probably joining.
    Sounds utterly fantastically boring.
Practically 2 unknowns which I guess suits Evans seeing as all the lime light will go him

Yea. I can see that line up appealing to a very small few.

Viewings will be down I bet.

Bad move for Harris imo, he's the best in the world when it comes to his online niche, but tv? Not so sure :o

That Sabine one in particular annoys me. Remember her from one tg episode and she was just irritating me.
No idea who Harris is and coulthard..? Riiiight.

If you're genuinely in the market for a supercar then it'd be great.
    Nobody is though.

Old top gear got stupid though, and BBC will never be able to replicate the 3 stooges, so they have to take a new direction. If it turns out to be a very factual programme with great camera work, then it'll still be worth watching, but for different reasons.

Thats just 5th gear though isn't it?

I like Chris Harris, worth checking out his youtube channel Chris Harris On Cars... very good reviews etc!

How many people paid for Harris's videos when he stopped doing them for free though
