I havent a clue of itunes, how do i get this? at the till?

Nope they will be with all the other gift cards somewhere in the shop. Good luck when you get to the till though. I tried getting a few Google Play cards some months back and it was a nightmare. Held the line up for ages while the person on the till struggled with them.

It's a clearance price as this is being destocked. They usually reduce by 50% first and then, if needs be, by 75%. The stores don't destock at the same time though so if you find it elsewhere, it may not be reduced yet. Or it may have already been cleared (as I have not seen it in any other Tesco except Roxboro where it's not yet reduced).

Is the item still free though?

If you're charged €10 for an €8 item, do they refund you €2 (overcharge) or double the difference of €4 or €14 (double the difference and the item free)?

Wasn't sure which it should be and the women basically offered me the overcharge back.

The item is not free- no.
Its double the difference between the price charged at the till and the price on the shelf.
I don't remember when the item free thing was- it was certainly years ago- its not a recent thing that its gone.

In your example- you would have been overcharged by 2 Euro for the item (paying 10 instead of 8). Once you have actually paid the 10- you are entitled to double the overcharge of 2 back (i.e. 4 Euro back). You most certainly do not get the item free ontop of this.

The item isn't free, its just double the difference.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,344 ✭✭✭lazeedaisy

If you are charged €10 for an item that s advertised €8, you pay €10, go to the customer service desk, explain, they check it out, refund the difference, €2 plus €2 for double the difference,

The €8 item cost you €6,

Not sure where you are getting the idea iTs free though.

They used to have a policy of free item too, but that's gone as of a few years ago.

i didn't get double last year on something

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 72,968 ✭✭✭✭L1011

If you aren't given double, you should ask - but if you don't want to ask or are refused, they'll sort it out by email and post - got a €6 card today for not being given it last week.

Standard practice is to offer you a refund of the difference. You only get double- if you kick up a fuss and point at it on the customer charter (at the customer service desk). Normal practice is only to give customers the amount they were overcharged back (unless you kick up a fuss)
