With my cat following me around the house I went into the kitchen but closed out the door, I came out again and there she was with her two paws against the door trying to come in! :)

I came home and instead of her usual bringing me a monkey or a heavy rubber ball that she tosses at me, she paced, with her ears down with a snowball plushie and the teddie in her mouth and as i was changing she brought me more plushies for which she got a biig hug - shes just too adorable! She was super gentle today and just so happy to see me come home from work - my heart melted!

My dog finally got the hang of her treat ball last night and was deliberately nudging it round the kitchen to make her food fall out. She didn't seem to know what to do with balls before now. I'm so proud.

This is a memory from a dear cat who has passed but I'm minded to post it all the same. She would go to the front door to be let out in the morning and if, when you opened the door, she saw that the weather was bad, she'd turn on her heels and go and sit at the back door hoping the weather might be better out there! :)

Also remember a dalmation my parents used to mind when we had boarding kennels (but the dalmation stayed in the house because she fretted for her owner and got on well with ours) and she had to be tucked in at night with a blanket on top. If you didn't, she'd appear in the sitting room with her blanket in her mouth, looking mournfully at you.

This morning, my dog appeared from under the duvet to lick my face and she had that great warm doggy smell. Then she yawned in my face with her morning breath and I still thought it was the cutest thing ever. :)

Elly decided to be a proper collie this morning and practice her rounding skills. Only problem was she was trying to round up the chickens who were having none of it!

Interesting to watch but was soon stopped as she decided if she couldn't round them, she was going to try to play chase with them instead:eek:

I had a really well behaved walk with Mo last night. Loose lead all the way with minimal stopping and he only reacted to one car and one jogger.

It really feels like the leash rules are clicking for him.

Looking back at this post it doesn't feel like Mo's reacting/barking/lunging at cars has improved massively. But.. he did lunge at one point last night and catch me off guard, for the first time in months I lost my grip on the leash and he ran straight out in the middle of the (empty) road.

We've been working on Mo's recall every day for the last few weeks but haven't had to put it to the test in a risky situation.

I called Mo once and held out a handful of treats, he ran straight to me with his tail wagging. Cue a downpour of cheese, liver and kibble.

Our old cat used to do that. Going to the back door thinking it wouldn't be raining out there. He'd get mad at us then like it was our fault!

My mums whippet/lurcher has a fluffy blanket and she loves to carry it around with her and drop it wherever she feels like lying next. My mum has to Tuck her in at night too. So cute!

After playing a long session of catch, , my dog was sitting down looking up at me panting, it was like she was smiling away and there was a beautiful twinkle in her eye, sometimes I just want to squeeze her so so tight, she is just so perfect. I go through episodes of depression but my little girl always makes me feel so good and brings a smile to my fave even on the grimmest of days.

The Cat was fast asleep on the couch, all enveloped by a big blanket. He was talking in his sleep and snoring, when all of a sudden my mobile buzzed to notify me of an incoming text message. Well, The Cat woke up, stretched while complaining loudly, glared at me, and curled up again. It was a sort of 'WHO DARES WAKING ME UP IN MY DEEP SLUMBER?!' Now he's asleep again, he's snoring once more, and his paws are twitching. In his dreams he's probably doling out his punishment to the impudent who disturbed him earlier. :P

I let Mo loose in the dog park today for the first time in months. He's been going bonkers every time he sees another dog for months so we didn't trust him in the dog park. We did a bit of work desensitizing by walking around the outside of the dog park and rewarding him for staying calm. Today it was nearly empty because of the weather and he started calm all the way to the fence, three very friendly dogs and their owners invited us in.

He behaved impeccably and had an absolute blast. Even when a big friendly GSD freaked him out he just ran back to me rather than get aggressive.

    Dead proud of him.

Every morning, one of my chores, is to 'set the fire' in the stove, so that in the evening its ready to put a match to.
This morning, when I turned around the blasted fire was LIGHTING!!!! It makes me INSANE when this happens - some evenings I cant light the blasted thing (bad draught/whatever) - so it makes me crazy when I have left a hot cinder or whatever in the grate and it takes off.
Anyway, the cat and the dog are now curled up in front of the fire, in their beds, thrilled with the unexpected fire - normally they never get into their 'stove beds' during the day - prefer the armchairs in another room - so someone is happy :o

When it’s time for a walk, Token, my LabX knows the routine: Up stairs, Walking trousers on, Boots on, Coat on, Lead on, Out the door.
She follows me up the stairs, and waits, poised eagerly to see my foot appear out the end of my trousers, This is the all important cue. Then she lunges, places her cheek on my outstretched foot, then runs off in the other direction, and spins around to come back for the other foot! Same thing happens when the foot goes out to put on the boots. She gets soooo excited and dances and spins and places her cheek on my foot over and over! I can’t even remember how this started, but it is now most definitely A Thing that we do, She thinks this is the best game in the world!
This happens every day, usually twice a day, and it makes me laugh every time! :D

Our two kittens like to play hide and seek, especially when we are in a rush somewhere. They're so fast and it's hard to catch them to put them in the kitchen.

I've found a foolproof way of getting them to come out of their hiding places though. All I have to do is rustle a bag of crisps and they come running. Greedy little things. It makes me laugh every single time.

I'm currently living with my parents in a downstairs room while recovering from an accident. I got stuck like a turtle on my back this morning in the bed, couldn't sit up as I was too sore. Bob, my lovely doggy, who at 13 has never been allowed upstairs or on furniture came running into the room, leapt from about 5 feet back and landed beside me on the bed and stayed there for about an hour giving me licks and cuddles!! Really cheered me up!!

Lotso sneakily stealing the secret santa present i had bought from the table, thinking i couldn't see him brought it upstairs and he has not let it leave his side since.... even taking it on a walk with him!
Think i will be buying another dog toy tomorrow!

I took Mo for a run last night. We were about 10 minutes from home and I ran out of treats, there was still lots of traffic to pass and nothing to distract him.

I've been dying for him to grow up and let me take him running. He's 15 months old now and I have a decent harness on him so we gave it a bash last night.

He always loves a good run off lead so it was no surprise to see him enjoy it. My word is he fast though even with him dragging me behind him I struggled to turn my feet over fast enough to keep up.

I think I'll get a waist belt for myself and look into canicross training.

My little cat squee and my boyfriend were snuggled on the bed an evening earlier this week.
Next thing, Squee jumped up off the bed followed swiftly behind by my boyfriend as he was curious to know where she was off to (mostly because I was away and he wanted to make sure she wasn't leaving him for too long!!).
As he arrived into the spare room he saw her potter about a bit and then the next thing there was a woeful smell. Then she was off back to the bed and curled up again for him to return.

Basically she went into another room to have a toot and then went back to join my boyfriend for snuggle again once she was done.

    What a good cat!! :D

Not technically my pet but can I post anyway?!

Our neighbours are farmers and have these three little barn cats that don't get much of a look in. They're not mis-treated as such. They are "mousers" and sleep in the barn and get fed in the morning. That's pretty much all they get. Anyway, I bring them over treats and extra food in the evenings, and they know the time and place and wait there without fail for whatever I have scraped together. (Last night I pilfered two quarter pounders from my mothers freezer and cooked them and served them with a side of milk :D). They have been getting more and more comfortable in my presence. I decided to pick one up last night. At first, she was just completely rigid. I sensed it wasn't in fear as they've never been abused but more just simple confusion. I held her for a moment and spoke to her and after a minute I could feel her physically relax into me. She stared up at me for a bit and then gave me a big head butt on my chin (which we all know is a real "you rock" from a cat!). I kept talking to her and then she started purring and snuggled into my neck. She's only a little slip of a thing, so small and smelly too, but it was one of the most beautiful moments I've had for such a long time. To actually be the person who shows her physical affection for the first time and say, "hey, this is a hug. it means I love you and it feels great!" :P

I know its sad, but I cant wait to go back over tonight and hug her again!

OldNotWise, there's something in my eye now, damn you!

I was sitting at home last night minding my own business, when all of a sudden the two cats came charging into the room having an absolute CONNIPTION because one of them had gotten a bit of tinsel stuck to her paw. She was having a fit trying to get it off and the other cat was simultaneously trying to help/murder her. I was laughing so much that I couldnt move off the sofa and when my husband came in to see what in the name of god was going on, he was greeted by a kitty/tinsel death-match and a purple, spluttering, crying wife.
Once I managed to make myself understood, he rescued poor tinsel-cat and order was restored. I really almost passed out though, it was effing hilarious - the face on the poor cat!

Great story - but leave off on the milk - water is much better for them.

Had a rotten week with our dog: he had cruciate ligament replaced a few months back - he did "zoomies" around the house with the cat on Sunday GREAT fun, but REALLY lame afterwards  So back to total rest again  Then sick as a pig on Monday/Tues, tummy obviously very upset gurgling, and very uncomfortable, and couldnt settle. So starved him for 24 hours....

This a.m got up thinking we were facing a vets visit today - but!!! good old pup is totally back to normal :D zoomed down to the bed for duvet snoozes as usual. Gave him some boiled chicken - inhaled it, and is now crashed out on the sofa :D Phew! HATE it when the animals are off colour!

Dog had a very swollen stomach, was panting, pacing, wouldn't lie down. She wasn't trying to vomit or anything, but you know how it is, I was automatically going 'She got into something. Or it's bloat. Or possibly ebola. She's going to die of ebola isn't she.'

I was anxiously waiting for the vet to open, sitting beside the door with the car keys in my hand, had called them in advance to make sure that everyone would rush to her attention. Then she farts. And continues to fart, loud and long, for about three hours. May need to burn the dog bed, fumigate the house, and spend all the Christmas present money on scented candles- but I now have a happy, lively, and visibly deflated dog.

That's the thing- she hadn't eaten anything, that I know of. Just her normal dog food. God alone knows.

She might have got brussels sprouts- they were the one food I let get put into the kitchen bin, on the assumption that dogs wouldn't eat burnt brussels sprouts. I am not going to sift through the bin to find out though!
