Is there a name on that article about Neymar?

Jaysus, 144m on one player.....that would be incredible....

It would also be fairly stupid imo. Neymar is good but spending 144m on say Reus, Robben and Griezmann is much better business.

Griezmann is on Chelsea's radar now apparently. Get in there Woody.

was just looking back on through of some of my posts, it was only 4 months ago I was saying we should be after Stones during the summer and I was shot down (a lot) 4 months later I would reckon now the majority on here would take him in a second.

well given the fact we aint conceding goals, this means to me that CB is not a priority though we obviously need a new CB and a back up RB.

we need three top class attackers - a creative CM (like a Kroos style player), a rapid winger (temporary solutuion = Robben) and a striker (Lukaku/Higuan).

the other aspect is - are we so negative and needing 2 DM's due to LVG not trusting the defence?

stones would be a Rio like signing, would be at the heart of the defence for 10 years.

creative player Pogba would be ideal but I think he will sign for Barca.

Neymar would be unbelievable, he would be our rapid winger/striker all in one.

Bale would be my other one.

3 players, would cost around £300m and would help put us back as one of the best teams in Europe.

Sell Rooney, Fellaini, Ashley Young, Valencia to make way for the new signings

Any plan that relies on needing Bale, Neymar, Pogba and a kid Chelsea couldn't get for €50m before he was even a club regular is no plan at all.

stones has been a regular for Everton for the past 2 seasons.

If Pogba moves to Barca they will have to sell a big player, If we bid big money for Neymar they could be forced to sell.

Would need to offer Neymar the highest wage in world football to get him. United could still afford Griezmann.

Does seem Ed and Louis have their hearts set on Neymar, who is ready to overtake both Ronaldo and Messi as the best player in the world.

usually try and be optimistic for our games but I don't want to get my hopes up tonight as I think it could end in tragedy. would be such a disappointment to get knocked out tonight. A big display is needed tonight and it could really lift our season if we were to get a result and finish top of the group

He has played plenty but this is the year he has really established himself as a top defender, his stock has only risen since Chelsea failed to get him.

My point still stands, this type of squad planning is just championship manager "buy the worlds best players" type of fantasy, what is the point of it? We probably aren't getting Bale, Pogba or Neymar, and we certainly aren't getting all of them.

maybe you didn't notice him last season or season before that, he was a top class talent from a young age. Iirc he was also nominated for the golden boy award last year.

I wouldn't call in championship manager style planning, Barcelona do it, Real Madrid do it, Bayern do it, we have started to do it. Last season di Maria, Falcao, depay, Herrera, luke shaw, rojo, blind, valdes all signed in the one window. if that's not championship manager style spending then nothing is....

If we got 2 of them and I don't just limit it to them 3. Maybe a Greizmann or Ronaldo or Kane or whoever, but all the talk is we will be big players in the transfer market next summer

Every team in the PL next summer will be big spenders given the lowest prize money in the PL for the 2016/17 season will be equal to what Real Madrid and Barcelona get.

Oh come on, you are equating a mix of free transfers, loan deals, potential talents, mid level players and one big signing with going out and in one window signing three of arguably the worlds top five players.

There are realistic targets at any price but for some reason you are talking about taking the worlds biggest players away from the worlds biggest clubs. Why not just add Messi and Ronaldo to the list and be done with it.

Bit narcissistic, but you are in fact great of course.

Edit: Actually, how were you shot down? I wasn't here I don't think. Was it cause of the money which would have been reasonable, was it cause he is so young and what is actually needed at cb for us is someone more experienced which would also have been reasonable?

I doubt many people doubted Stones potential, he looks like a cracking prospect, but considering Chelsea couldnt get him for that absolutely ridiculous figure how much did you want the club to part with to get him? Is there no alternative to him? Now Smalling is showing that he can possibly assert himself as the leader of the defence Stones would certainly be more attractive as the younger man in that partnership but going in to the season Smalling had not proved he could be relied upon, Jones either obviously so the need was more for an experienced leader in the backline who would marshall the defence and had good experience at a high level.

They got Varela and Darmian playing in the wrong positions if both play, which they most likely will.

Team is ok but I would prefer to see a more 433 shape, Carrick sitting would allow Schwein and Fell to alternate and join the attack from deep, one stay one go etc. Martial, Memphis and Lingard should be able to stretch the defence creating space. I have no doubt we will create enough chances to win the game I just hope a couple are taken cause I can see Wolfsburg scoring one

Just debating to myself.... go to camera club tonight..have a bit of craic there .or stay in and watch the match. .. get utterly frustrated yet again ?

Asked myself. ..when was the last match I watched and really enjoyed it.... Probably the Liverpool one...12th Sept .. seems years ago at this stage. . But 3 months ago :(

What was the last match you enjoyed
    .. honestly now !

I enjoyed the West Ham game for the most part, didn't enjoy the result but it was an entertaining game of ball and we were involved which is rare these days :)

Probably the Liverpool match too. There have been enjoyable bits here and there since, but it's very dull to watch for the most part. For much the same reasons I never enjoyed watching Barcelona in their pomp - though at least they scored enough goals to keep it somewhat interesting.

I'm basically watching out of a possibly misguided sense of duty at this stage rather than because I'm being entertained.

ah just the usual, it was around the same time I said smalling was good enough to make the Barcelona team and was laughed at

I think this is some of the reason the attack has been bad this season i think the shackles has been on the 2 cm to stay back and defend as LVG doesn't fully trust them. Its why ander doesn't play there as he is more attack then the two schs and carrick.

Presuming we play Martial, Memphis and Lingard. I do like all three players, Lingard needs to get back to where he was in the past which was good in front of goal.
Hopefully Memphis is getting back some good form, he looked so good early in the season.
    Martial is due a goal.

I believe we can do it tonight.

Need to take there chances which is my biggest concern.
Wolfsburg wont sit back and defend IMO so that will actually suit us.

    team for later??

    DDG
    Darmian--Smalling
    Daley
    Young

    Carrick
    Bastian

    Lingard
    Mata
    Memphis

    Martial

knowing LVG though, he will put Fellaini in instead of Memphis and put Mata on the right. that front 4 on saturday was horrific :(

also a chance Mcnair could start and Daley At LB.

Schweinsteiger: "In every game we create chances, but haven’t scored. When that is not the case it is not easy to win matches,"

"If you miss a chance you have to be unhappy. It is about attitude when you are a striker, a big striker, like a Ronaldo, Messi and Thomas Muller. They want to score goals. They have quality but they want to score goals. You need the attitude that you want to score.

"Our players are not scared in front of goal, no. It is all about the killer instinct. We have players who have the abilities but we need it in every game.

"With luck or whatever you have to score. The feeling that the players want to score, we need to have more of this. We are trying. We are creating and that is a good thing. The problem is a mix of everything, it is that last pass. You have to look up to see what is on. We have players who can score goals."

Basti, we are still waiting on your German friend that you mentioned....

McNair was woeful on Saturday. Fair play to Varela for stepping up at half time, I thought he looked composed and offered more in an attacking option.

It's going to be such a nervy game tonight. Here's hoping PSV fluff it up at home and we grind out some sort of performance that takes us through.

I see Fellaini playing to disrupt Naldo and Dante which will be an important battle, not to mention him being one of our better attacking outlets Saturday, keeping Kruse quiet will be a tough ask for us also.
