Postage stamp required on Santa letter ?

This is the lowest of the low as far as I'm concerned. A kid writes a letter to Santa and the PO are asking that they affix a 70 cent letter to it before they stick it in the special post box ????

I know the Post Office is losing money, but that's ridiculous

In fairness, you can dump a letter without a stamp in any post box. The 70 cent gets a reply back to the child - post out and a reply all for a mere 70 cent.

70 cent?? That is taking the piss to be fair, you'd be better off telling the little one that Santa isn't real, would save you the hassle.

Actually no.

If you pay for the stamp, the child will receive a letter back from Santa.

You don't have to put a stamp on a letter that you put in a post box so that it doesn't get delivered to imagination land. What do you they're going to do? Send elves knocking on your door for the 70cent?

We always sent them to Santa by means of the fireplace. The smoke carried the words to the North Pole (Smoke goes up you see) where the letters then recombined for reading purposes. Kinda like an old-school teleporter but just not as fast.

It never failed, I always got that surprise I asked for.

Us too! I have a parent from France and always assumed that' sphere it came from.
When I talk about it, no one else seems to have done this and everyone thinks we were so gullible to fall for it! :rolleyes:
But I think the magic of this is nicer than just posting a letter, made perfect sense to me, and I always got the surprise I asked for, most times lovingly made by Santa's elves, who used to head to the workshop after all the kids had gone to bed
