Wolfsburg are no great shakes, I think we will have our fair share of chances. Hopefully they can be put away.

Personally, I don't think we will win on Tuesday, but I most certainly hope I'm wrong.

I just don't think we are good enough, but I been wrong fair few times this year and hope it continues.

    Me too! :)

Would disagree with the assertion we are not good enough, its hardly Munich we are playing! We are certainly good enough to beat them, whether we play to ability or not is another matter of course :D

Playing two holding midfielders in front of a back 4 isn't exactly something a manager of a top team shoudnt be praised much for.

In fact, LVG is getting far too Much credit for it. We also have the best keeper and center half in the league which goes a long way.

This negative set up has cost us going forward.

Plenty of teams play that way and concede a fair few. Dont agree there

Actually you're right. We are good enough to beat them, but I just feel lack of confidence along with the poor performances won't be enough.

But I think it be close. If I had put life on line I say draw, but I think PSV will win.

So does anyone actually think spunking a load of money on a poacher like Higuin will make a difference to us ?

Cavani is a better player but neither of them will make a difference if they have to feed of the scraps Rooney and Martial were getting.

It's very simplistic to think that all that's missing is a forward player.

Was reading John Aldridge's column during the game,he was on about the pool having got all the away games against the top teams out of the way and all they would need to do is turn Anfield into a fortress

"If Anfield is made a fortress, who can stop us?"

Then boom they go down 1 nil away to Newcastle

Aldridge is one of the worst pundits/journalists there is out there. Three wins in a row for the Scouse and he thinks they will win the league. Tarmac talker

We're Man Utd, wearing the shirt gives an extra 5% performance in attack.

The gameplan was much improved yesterday. I think LVG knows his job is on the line with this game. Utd will attack and win.

    Absolute bollox.

We are man utd, gives 5% extra in attack

What does this absolute nonpost mean?

Really do think a proper #10 and a proper right winger should be the main priority. Players who can create the chances and score a few as well. Striker is on the list, mind; Rooney isn't up to scratch and Martial, while I love him, is still too young to put such weight on his shoulders.

But we need the creativity before we get the poacher.

Why don't you think we can win there?

because right now, we are playing the worst football seen at the club for almost 30 years. we have a hosts of average players in our squad and first 11 that would not get into any top team in the champions league. in our recent away Champions league games, we have not played too well, we have also struggled in almost every away game in the PL and have barely scraped results, against teams much worse than Wolfsburg.

we can win of course, but based on the last 2 months the odds of us doing so are not good.

more to the point though, we are also right now in one of the worst scoring runs in decades at the club.

a draw by CSKA and us getting a draw are out best chance of us qualifying IMO.

Oh I agree, I'm just saying if we go for any target I like get him.

He be realistic target. I mean ideal world like few others, but that was for summer past and maybe future

And i don't think he suddenly turn us into Barcelona

Higuan would improve us for sure, i think we should go all out and sign him.

the thing is, we actually need to sign 3 players in attack and its going to cost about £150m to get them.

Napoli arent going to sell him. It's as simple as that.

I like Higuain but there are hints of Rooney about him. A superstar on big wages who peaked early and physically has slowed down earlier than he should.

The big difference I suppose is that he is in good form at the moment and Rooney isnt but it's not a signing I think would be an answer to Uniteds problems.

Wouldn't put too much stock in Red Issue. Don't they regularly tease insider info on their forum, that you have to pay to see?

This is very true. Biggest problem is where do we get them.

Firstly I think we need to play with one holding player ie Schneiderlin.
Herrera on his right and I would sign Barkley for the left. Play a conventional 433 and forget about a no 10. 2 other players required to play up front with Martial.
The continuous playing of 2 holding midfielders is killing us

Some clips from yesterday,we were wasteful in front of goal. There were a few nice bits of interplay though.

Why don't you think we can win there?

Because winning involves scoring at least one goal! :pac:

    :(

Wolfsburg are not great by any means, but we've failed to score against lots of very mediocre teams this season.

    I'm partial to your abracadabra,

I'm raptured by the joy of it all.

But I think you haven't played enough sport if you don't understand the legacy a team inherits from it's predecessors.

One rumour is he turned up with alcohol in his bloodstream and is suspended.

The other is he was dropped but claims he is injured to cover up that he has been dropped from the team.

C'mon now. Total exageration. We are more defensively solid then we have been in quite a while. Possesion wise we are good too. We were dire under Moyes and in Fergies last two seasons we had no control over many games, our midfeild was completely bi-passed. Sure its not happening up front as we would like but at least the possesion football gives us control.

Saying its the worst in 30 years is a total over reaction.

Agreed on Higuain. Think he is very much a confidence player and would be a big risk. You'd be looking at 50m minimum and for what? A 28 year old player who has only broken 20 league goals once in the last 5 years that is inferior in every way to the likes of Aguero.

But I don't really have any better suggestions which is a bit depressing.

we have failed to score in 6 of the last 12 games, scoring only 10 goals.i am pretty sure, you wont find many periods of footballs in the last 30 years with stats that bad. and even you can forget stats, what we are witnessing on the pitch is something i have never seen in my lifetime, we are absolutely putrid to watch and i would say even fans at Bournemouth, West Brom and Norwich are more happy with their teams football than ours.

im going to United games for 14 years and ive never seen so much discontent amongest the match going fanbase, people are sick of it.

definsively solid means f*ck all when we cant score. this contstant head in the hands stuff within a very small section of our fans is almsot as frustrating as our puck football now as its baffling how theres anybody left to defend the manager and players.

the only positive right now is that it cant get any worse.

How does that work? If he had one drink the night before training, wouldn't it be still in his system? I doubt that one drink warrants a suspension.

Looking at LVGs long term plan rather than taking each result on its own basis it what we should be doing. The progress is happening. We are not going to win the UCL this season, we just don't have the squad to compete and the EPL is a big ask.

I usually don't rate those fan interview videos, they make me cringe 99% of the time, but this one is spot on. The fan giving his opinion is brilliant. I agrees with everything he says, he gets the long term view so much its like he's reading my mind

More pros than cons nder LVG. I 100% agree. What he said about swapping out our front line for Barcas and being solid from back. 100% agree.

Also this article is brilliant. It gives an insight into LVG and how he builds long term, well worth a read if you buy into the long term and paints LVG as a humble guy, which he comes accross as anything but in the media.

    https://decorrespondent.nl/1418/6-secret-traits-that-make-Louis-van-Gaal-the-humble-genius-he-is-and-mainstream-media-fail-to-see/125220977970-aab230c0?utm_content=buffere23fa&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer

As for yesterday, my opinion was it was probbly our best 0-0. 21 shots, not scoring was all on the player for me not LVG. The football was not boring and we created plenty. West ham have beaten Arsenal, City and Liverpool away frm home and Chelsea at home. They are not pushovers.

    24 years definitely.

However even the transition years from Atkinson's style to the Fergie model wasn't dull and boring.

I wanted Ferguson out in '89 but it was negated by the battle of Old Trafford. :)

define progress? you call being one of the most negative teams in the league and passing 500 times sideways, is progress? we have spent £320million and we have a squad missing a heap of talent.

if anything, considering all the money spent, we are regressing and its alarming just how poor we have become. ive seen 2 or 3 lads on here constantly beating this nonsense. even under Moyes, for the 12 games before he was sacked, we had scored 20 goals, its 10 from the last 12 under LVG.

if that doesnt wake people up, i dont know what will.

Christ. It can't get any worse? You can't be serious. Did you not remember Moyes?

    It could be far worse.

"definsively solid means f*ck all" Absolutely not true, it means a lot, when the attack clicks in it means everything. Do you honestly not see the benefit of what LVG is building towards.

Honest questions. Just say we swap out Rooney, Depay and Mata and had lets say Reus, Griezmann and Robben behind Martial. Controlling the possesion of those games and being defesnsively solid with that front line free to cause damage would mean **** all?

LVG is getting it right at the back and in possession, he is almost there, then he must sort the front line, for me this is done in the transfer market.

Your very reactionary in genral though homer, we dont sign players quick enough and you loose it. I'm not suprised your pissed off but calling it the worst in 30 years and saying your baffled theres anybody left to defend the manager and players is a bit silly tbh.

There is a lot of good progress happening.
