First time I never seen a departure of 16 and a arrival on finals for 28

Good advertisement for the airbus product today, while Ryanair have billions of dollars worth of machinery sitting on the ground costing money, most if not all airbus operators where operating today.

Usually Dublin is very busy at this hour, whereas tonight, EI771 which is just on approach is the last arrival for the night.

I think we all need an early night after that day :D

Well done to all the flight crews that had a go today, you certainly "earned your salt".

Sly dig at Ryanair there :P

Certainly a day to forget for operations at Dublin airport.

11pm TAF's up soon. I'll post it up if there's anything interesting for the morning. If not, night all :P

Certainly no sly dig at FR, or any other sort of a dig for that matter.

I just want to compliment all the flight crews who worked bloody hard today.

    All the best.

    Dublin
From 5am in Dublin the wind will be 310 degrees (NW) at 13 knots. That'll be a nice calm easy morning for the pilots considering the recent weather.

By evening the wind will be 120 degrees (ESE) 15knots gusting 26knots. RWY 10 will be in use in that wind.

    Shannon
Wind also be be a light (310 13knots/290 8knots) North-westerly for the morning arrivals/departures. By late evening though its 120 degrees (ESE) 17knots so RWY06 in use with a bit of a crosswind.

    Cork
Same message as DUB and SNN for early morning, light Northwest-northerly winds. By evening it will become a moderate 120 degrees (ESE) 15 knots gusting 26knots form 5pm-7pm and a southerly 180 degrees 16knots gusting 27knots. Winds for Monday look to be a strong southerly with Cork looking to get the first of that.

    Knock
Very light Westerly to variable wind for the late morning/early afternoon for Knocks operations.

Turkish operated two 737 flights in and out of DUB. It just so happens that all other scheduled short-haul operations that I can think of were with Airbus equipment. Some Aer Lingus flights diverted to SNN. I heard several EI flights inbound who said the crosswind on 28 was right on their permitted limit, so a couple of knots more and they would not have been landing either.

Today is an example why I try not to fly with ryanair.

At least other operators are giving it a go, ryanair aren't even trying.

A crass and ignorant remark. If FR were flying tonight and all the EI fleet were grounded people would be criticising FR.

Arrived in to DUB this eve on EI779. When we left Lanzarote this evening the captain said we were very lucky to be going home - they were lucky to take off from Dublin. He said we would possibly be diverted to Shannon and he had never taken so much fuel on for this flight. All the crew were great with information. Last 10/15 minutes were pretty bumpy. Big cheers at the end when we landed. Happy to be home :)

in fairness, a good few times in the past few years aerlingus have had to do fuel stops en-route due to airbus lack of stamina when returning from sun destinations with short runways, causing significant delays, whilst Ryanair have delivered their Pax to the destination on time. Directors don't care for these once-off events and I'm sure on the annual report it wont event stand out

Any more posts along those lines and you'll get a ban from A&A.

Ryanair are not flying for reasons of safety. Do you have a problem with that?

I think some people are missing the point here about what happened with operations yesterday.

I operated on Friday night and it was very uncomfortable trying to work in those conditions.

It's not about Boeing or Airbus or the difference between a Jet or Turboprop it's about being safe and also about being able to operate a full or nearly full schedule when the storm abates.

From what I've seen on FR during recent stormy weather was that the Airbus was the one to struggle whereas the Boeing usually won the day. I was very surprised to see the scores somewhat reversed yesterday. Overall I suppose it's honours even.

I also don't accept the criticism of Ryanair either. They're in the business of flying people and making money so yesterday would've hurt them quite a bit. It wasn't very long ago that they were being criticised for pushing the boundaries (a lá Channel 4), so is it a bit silly to reproach them now for doing the right thing and demonstrably playing it safe?

A Thomson dreamliner (G-TUIB) operating to Cancun diverted to Shannon a few moments ago

Dublin looks alot more normal this morning. Stobarts and Ryanairs back operating again :P

I don't know what I was hearing on the Dublin main frequency "That German show looks like a great fu*king show anyway"

I love reading posts like this! Thanks for sharing. I think all people involved in the aviation business, ground crews / flight crews are fantastic to do what they do, and for me, it's never more poignant than at christmas when there is such an endeavour to get people home to see their families, considering the amount of Irish abroad. Kudos to all.

For those nervous flyers, its worth remembering that the crosswind limits on aircraft are based on the winds that they encountered during certification, rather than a theoretical limit. The aircraft and the crew can land in much higher winds, but they adopt the book limit to enhance safety.

For anyone a bit bored, AW276 - Irish Air Corps currently circling in Roscommon

Last time that i saw that A319, it was in plain colours and not Emirates, the only way that we knew the owner was from a small logo at the door.
