Ah bless her! In fairness I reckon she got her point across.

Why would they put her out in that though? Poor divil, fairplay to her :)

Anyone else notice that the only time RTE actually focuses outside South Dublin is when the rest of the country is under water? And Galway is the place predominantly featured.

reminds me of other epic moments in live Irish news folklore...

Who can ever forget the epic Ice-slip moment

aengus mac grianna has had a few moments

Or the TV3 News reporter confronted by the lads outside court

Or poor Siobhan Bastiblle who couldn't stop choking

And the Irish Pictorial Weekly sketch that went viral all over the world coz most people thought it was a real RTE news reports

In this portion of the clip, as soon as she says that people have been spotted in the water and that Galway City council say their actions are idiotic, a guy strolls into shot behind her in a sweatshirt, gives a little wave to the camera and heads down to the water :p

I dunno... Listening to the wind howling outside right now - and I'm in an area that's one of the less affected - I think it seems very plausible to have to shout if you're standing in a wind tunnel. Her hair is blowing about the place and the bush or whatever behind her is swaying away.

You describe this as "epic". Fair enough. I'm sure that total scumbag appreciates that along with the giggling retards.

Teresa in comparison to the reporter in Dublin was classic.
Coat open and relaxed outside Dublin airport telling us of all the poor travellers stuck inside the terminal.

Why are people pretending it's not that bad - they know it is.

Unless people are standing still in a wind tunnel and talking into a camera, they really don't know that she's pretending. Why would she? It's perfectly believable.

Do you think none of us have ever been out in the bloody wind or something? Of course she was giving it socks. Either that or she is one bloody incredible drama queen who'd call an ambulance for a paper cut. But I'm sticking with the former rather than the latter. No harm though, the reaction is just a bit of craic. I don't think anyone is being mean about it.

I'm thinking Theresa may have been the wrong woman for the job. She obviously got a bit over excited. :pac:

She sounds like she did a lap of Galway before the report.

Jaysus the poor woman! Is she okay? Why did they send her out in that? Is the weather really brutal over there?

Ah sure it's the west of Ireland they are well used to all varieties of rain there.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Just to be serious for a moment (sorry), RTE does have a duty of care to its employees and while last night was pretty much a storm in a teacup if a reporter is sent out to a dangerous environment for reasons that are entirely needless (to report on a gale doing what a gale does) can the broadcaster get sued if someone gets pole-axed by a roof slate/tree branch/sign?

Funny thing about that is one forgets that water is not usually this high and what's under it is man made structures . Like that stair case 3 inches under the water he is about to belly flob on to.:)

I keep watching it solely to hear how she unexpectedly shouts "journeys!"

    "Don't make unnecessary JOURRRRRRRRNEYS!"

Seems like it's pretty darn windy in the uploaders home.
Holding the camera steady in those conditions seems to have been impossible.
