    BMW death needle?

That big ole path to the right that brings you to the red light :)

Vintage got some great footage during the good times though, listen to that golf!

A runaround may be bought I think, no way to fix the car fast enough being my daily and all!

Shame. Loved the sound of it going around the track. That's some six-cylinder noise.

Didn't think it was loud enough to be heard passing in a car, especially a rotary!

I never got a chance to get a look at the rx8 with us all rushing around but they look really well in black!

    It does alright...

You didn't really miss much. Just sort of took it gentle enough. No use finishing my first track day on a trailer.

Very true man, it was a wet and rude awakening to track days for you.

    It was what it was.

It made it easier to find the limit with lower consequences for going through it. And the rain kept the crowds away so I could usually lap the track to myself at a steady pace.

RX helped with a long second gear - I think I had to make exactly 2 gearchanges total each lap.

True, it looked really planted out there!
Jesus it must have long gears, i made 7 per lap to keep it on the go!

Yeah I think it was an ideal day for first timers. Weather prob helped keep numbers down and as dartz says, it meant exploring grip levels could be done at lower speeds. I had a blast but ill sleep tonight! Great spectrum of cars there today and plenty of handy drivers too, although some I think took a wrong turn and ended up on the grip track instead of drift. Yb.....I'm looking at you! Serious skill to drive like that.

    The car makes it easy!
Your friend went very quiet in the car with me :)

Best bit of the day was when you used launch control to enter the track :)

Serious cars the Golf R's, can't get over it.

So the anti roll bar had moved to the left about an inch, put new bushings in that. Drive away from the garage, noise comes back. Go back and the new diagnosis is that one of the wishbone bushings is fecked, allowing the wheel to pull back a bit, and to top it off the front inner brake pad is fcuked. Passed the grinding noise off as the catching arb, obviously a combination of both. And I don't even have the slightest clue how most of that came about!

Genuine question here Noccy, are you sure you didn't crash it or something?

Definitely one of the stranger problems I have seen arise on a car for apparently no reason!

That focus must have your head wrecked over the last few weeks annoying when there is an issue like that where the problem is not obvious.

My head is fried with the whole lot of it, between this and the front wheel catching (which I hope are all connected). It's a fecker when you can't put your finger on what's causing a problem!

Maybe someone stole the car, crashed it and brought it back, but I never dogged it into anything!!! Maybe it's a culmination of really bad roads, bends dips, humps etc. When getting to know the route I'd often plunge into dips at 100km/h and there'd be quite a few thuds, bangs etc. Lately though since I'm familiar with the route, I know when to pull back, pull out and ease better into bends.

Some sickner especially when it's not even an OE replacement although I'd imagine micksgarage ones are almost identical with the exception of a few. I have a cracked tail light but it's still sealed so I think I'll leave it for the moment.

Ah Ye generally just a few screws or bolts and a multiblock connection into the back should be easy enough to to change.

Sometimes if you buy a new one, it sticks out like a sore thumb from the older, weather beaten other one.

That crossed my mind too. I'd say just change all the light units front and back :pac: definitely a descent scrap one is the best option. Plus it will have the Toyota stamps and marking so when selling it on it won't be noticeable that it was replaced. Where as with a spurious one if you look hard enough you see it's different.

Would ya not just drive the Mondeo, Noccy?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,845 ✭✭✭Noccy_Mondy

Aye, at least I'm not beached.

Got 2 new tyres for that today actually.

    Edit: Here we go

NCT almost passed - failed on the nearside "cancer bar" on the MR2 - basically a strut bar that stiffens the chassis and scares the ****e out of every NCT/MOT tester :P

How long do you have the mondeo now seems like you have it a long time. The alloys look really well on it.

Top of 2nd is 110kph. Top of 3rd is 140.

Took most of it in second quite merrily, only needing third on the straight.

Also helps to have good tyres on the back. It's slide a bit and usually sort itself out, even with the DSC switched off.

3.5 years and going like a clock for the most part. For a near 8 year old car, it's still smooth and great to drive.

Best decision I ever made was putting them alloys on.

I figured you had it at least 3 years alright that's soooo long :pac: . It looks well from the outside with the alloys and chrome strips under the Windows small things like that really make the difference.
