Been sat on the tarmac on a Ryanair Dublin to Manchester flight for almost 4 hours now. Flights been cancelled but as we pulled out from the gate the space was taken, so there's nowhere to let us disembark. Have heard from the pilot twice in four hours and only been offered to BUY bottled water. This cant be right treatment can it!?

Sounds like hell. Understand competently it's horrendous weather and they can't help that, but leaving two hundred or so passengers for hours on end with no refreshments or opportunity to get on or off is just inhumane. You wouldn't actually treat a dog like that.
I don't know any of the rules governing such things but common sense should come into play.

I'm not bothered by the cancellation at all, if it's not safe to fly then I'm quite happy it's been cancelled! Disappointing as I was going over to the match to meet friends over from Oz but that cant be helped. Just bemused by the way it's been handled so far, and no doubt it'll be poorly handled when we eventually get off! Wonder if I can get my return flight tomorrow refunded?

Yeah you'd think that at least they could pop the plane at a stand SOMEWHERE and at the least get buses to disembark everyone.

We're only about 50 metres from where we boarded too!

Missed approach after making three rounds of holding. Windshear warning and will try again soon.

My thoughts exactly. I think they call it organisation. Airports should be fully versed in such events, shouldn't be too hard to take people off a flight rather than leaning them there like cabbages going nowhere!

And since no flights are leaving, pushback the plane that is at the gate, let you guys into the gate to disembark, then swap the planes back.

It really shouldn't be that hard, most of the ground staff (at a wild guess) wouldn't be doing too much this morning due to the lack of flights!

Edit: Wait for the media to blame Ryanair. Start tweeting RTE about the whole thing, might keep you entertained.

Lots of disruption at Dublin today by the looks of it. If I'm not incorrect ALL Aer Lingus regional services in Ireland are cancelled today, as well as several Ryanair services at Dublin.

LH983 just took off from Dublin with almost a 5 hour delay.

I was on one of those Aer Lingus regionals last night. I'm no aviation expert at all, but the landing and approach we endured into Dublin just couldn't have been safe. Having been on one I can see why they are all cancelled today and would have gladly taken a cancellation on the chin!

The pilots wouldn't have flown the approach and landing if it wasn't on or below the limits. Unsafe no, uncomfortable and probably on the limits yes. Hence why you are here today to talk about it :pac:

I'm on the ground having just landed and waiting for a stand at T2. I've never seen so many FR aircraft in one place - I can count 23 from where I am now.

    EI711 / EIN711 holding over Cork also

Just landed, twas a bit rough, had a big drop coming in which had the women on board in hystrerics but overall fantastic work from the crew, very good landing in difficult conditions.

Looks like an early enough go around, if an attempt was even made.

Mean speed at Cork has been consistently over 30knots for hours.

11.25am. As far as I can see not one FR has departed DUB this morning and most are showing cancelled. Apart from the Regional, EI flights seem to be operating as is BA.

Is the 738 more restricted in these conditions?

Last night at DUB several departing FR's that were holding for long periods at 28 had to eventually return to stand but had further delays as the stands were full and, according to communications I heard, only one tug driver was available to push the empty aircraft out of the way.

I'm not FR bashing, btw, I fly with them all the time and never had a problem but this all sounds very unusual.

You can be assured that the pilots will only fly the aircraft within the acceptable and safe limits that the aircraft is certified to operate within.
Yes, it can get bumpy and sometimes unpleasant, however passenger and crew safety is paramount.

Absolutely, I really admire the flight and cabin crew for getting us down safe and working in such conditions!
Not been on a flight for a while where everyone clapped on landing but definitely happened last night!

Winglet equipped 738, wet crosswind take off limit is 25 knots. Doesn't look like dropping any time soon so good call by their ops in my honest opinion

I was looking at the DAA flight info which must be inaccurate, so, yet they claim to get their info from the airlines. Nothing FR has been listed all morning as having departed including all flights to/from UK which have been listed cancelled or are just blank. Meanwhile mainline EI/BA and others are listed as departed.
