Well down at this stage, hopefully the passenger is ok. Cork would have been the nearest anyway, i just played it back, speed increased approx 200 miles out from Cork, wind was also favorable for a 35 landing.

There are at least 2 other small planes up also in the circuit, one of which is registered to The Dept of Homeland Security

On FR24, how do you find out there's an aircraft squawking 7700 or any other number? Is there a subscription requirement?

I don't have the app as I tend to use the desktop browser most. Will check it out though. Thanks!

    11pm TAF's up.

Dublin has a 28kt G 45kts 220degrees wind from 4pm-7pm. That may cause a few problems, its an equal 60 degree crosswind to both RWY28 and 16.

Cork has a TEMPO from 2pm-12am of 220 degrees at 29kts gusting 46kts. Can't see stobarts doing much at ORK tomorrow, and other services will struggle. (RWY17)

Shannon has a 220 degrees 26kts gusting 41kts from 12-3pm, cant see much or any disruption here. (RWY24)

Knock has a 220 degrees 31kts gusting 50kts from 12-3pm. If that wind happens I'll be surprised to see anything land. (RWY27)

For Newbies: The number of the runway (EG RWY 28 in DUB) is the direction in which it faces. So RWY 28 in Dublin is facing 280 degrees, RWY24 in Shannon is facing 240 degrees. So for Knock, Cork and Dublin tomorrow, they will have 50-60 degrees of a crosswind tomorrow compared to the wind being 20 degrees off at Shannon.

That Jet2 on approach to SNN and EI711 landed on the 2nd attempt.

Wind looks disruptive all this evening and most of tomorrow.

Glitch in FR24? Lets hope so.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,016 ✭✭✭Pat Dunne

It would appear that FR24 is very glitchy today I just spotted a Bond Helicopter's Dauphin, SW of Anglesey doing 675 knots.
I know there is a fair bit of wind today but even the old Lynx speed record wouldn't have been a patch on that one. :)

    Hi there,

Would you envisage any departure difficulties from Shannon c. 10pm tonight?

    Thanks in advance

Looking at the forecasts winds, the inbound flight from MAN looks like it won't have difficulties. Once the plane arrives its there's not much of a crosswind forecast so you won't have a problem with takeoff.

Departing at around 7.30 in the morning from Dublin to Gatwick and arriving back tomorrow night at around 9 - would you think there will be any departure or arrival difficulties in Dublin?
