Pfft. Look at ye with yer inerweb black friday shoppin. Its not the same unless you elbow a 90 year old great grand mother in the face trying to get the last Dolce Gusto coffee machine in the middle of Tesco that will be 50% cheaper again in January. Thanksgiving has clearly lost all meaning here :pac:

I didn't know that Thanksgiving ever had meaning here. :pac:

Took a stroll past Ballsbridge motors today and looked at the AMG GT in their window. It's depressing to think that someone who can drop €250k on that car has to only pay almost halve of what I pay in motor tax on an 11 yr old car.

That reminds of when I was in Waterford to get some flooring in b&q or whichever one closed down a few years ago and I just needed a few extra boxes and it was a coincidence that it was the closing down clearing out sale. Christ I walked In and there was literally fights people buying so much unnecessary crap as it was cheap. I walked down an isle and there was a man on the phone to his wife and he genuinely said "Ye they have immersions here 60% off I think I'll pick up one our one is fine but you never know when you will need one" I mean a fcuking immersion they generally last 20-30 years not like they are replaced every year I got some laugh that day :pac:

It abit like in the boom you'd walk into woodies and there would always be a husband that clearly had an office job or whatever and the wife after nagging him for so long about putting up a few shelves and a counter top. So there he would be at the checkout with the bit of counter top and few shelves sub 50 quids worth but then he would also have hand tools, cordless drill, sds drill, extension lead, skill saw, jig saw, tool box etc etc about 400 quid worth of tools I've seen it so much far cheaper to get the professionals in.

Speaking of laughs, last weekend a bouncer asks the fella in front of us to stand aside, says something like "stand out here buddy". The gombeen goes "get your hands off me, I'm not your buddy, mate". Mightn't seem funny now, but I p1ssed myself laughing, he didn't even cop the contradiction.

That reminds me of that "stop search seize" programme on sky one set in Ireland all they ever find is green diesel smokes, vrt evaders mostly in ****boxes and owl ones working the post giggling over sex toys it's cringe worthy at its best.

But there one fella in Dublin airport calls everyone buddy who got mad at someone for calling him mate I just wanted to box him :o

Go outside cry into your leather(Alcantara in my case) steering wheel and then start the V8 and go for a spin :)

I did that. Made me feel a bit better, but only because my tax is paid. If it was up for renewal soon I'd be very upset! :D

Yep, my car is about 50 shades of silver right now and I probably won't bother washing it until the weather is good.

All it takes is to merge onto a motorway behind a truck and your car looks like ****e again...

Took advantage of this whole isis **** and ryanairs flight sale and have got return flights and a massive suite in one of the top hotels in brussels (300m from everything it seems) for less than 130 quid the week before christmas.

Looked at going a few weeks ago and it was working out a lot more expensive

All the belgian beer shall be drank

Make sure Autoworld is on the agenda, then go opposite to the military museum where you can sink a couple of Leffes in the shadow of a Hind gunship!

Both are by the Arc de Triomphe/Parc de Cinquentenaire.

Autoworld certainly is. Not sure about the military war museum, I'm going to London four days before that and might be all military war mueumed out.

Roads are laced with muck out here. Waiting for a heavy day of rain to wash it all away

If you are in any way interested in planes then the aviation hall is well worth a visit. F-104, Mirages, F-4, F-16, Mig-23, Caravelle, Hunter,....it's free too!

Autoworld had a Jaguar exhibition when I was there in the summer.

Lovely gastro bar called La Terrace just beside Autoworld. Also get a kebab from one of the shops near the Bourse. :)

I've never seen a car for sale as long as this Mazda3 MPS

I'm not surprised it's still there but you'd imagine that after a certain length of time they would have though to export it to the UK. At least it would have had a better chance at selling there!

They've probably forgotten it exists. Kellys in Rathdrum sell absolutely ridiculous cars, head past the dealership it's all Porsches, Lambos, Ferraris and stuff even more exotic than that, all with 6 figure price tags.

be easy to forget about the VRT rebate on a 30k Mazda when you are trying to close on that quarter of a million quid F458 next to it.

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/ferrari-458-italia-carbon-seats/10600664

why that's even on donedeal is beyond me, but most of their "good" stock is along those lines.

Hi all - a quick question - my brother is thinking about moving over to Ireland from Australia and I've suggested he think about bringing his car with him.

It's a metallic white GT86 with black leather and gunmetal alloys, pretty nice car actually although to his face I say it must be like one of those shriner cars when he's driving it (6' 5").

Is there anything he needs to watch with type approval etc. that would make this non-workable? Obviously he'd also consider selling it there but there's not much market in 2nd hand cars apparently.

    Cheers

i'd say they were all terrified of it. they mightn't have wanted to have made twats of themselves fumbling looking for the bonnet release handle or acting like they'd ever seen a carbon fiber chassis before.

It seems expensive... Also they barely bothered taking photos of it, the average buyer probably looks at it and says 32k for a mazda is nuts!! I wish it looked as fast as it goes but maybe the sleeper look was what they were going for...

It's expensive because it's a 2007 model that never sold to anyone and has been going from garage to garage for the last number of years so it has been advertised as a 2007 all the way up to 2015 (and 2016 next year) due to the fact that it's still waiting for its first owner. I kind of feel sorry for it actually. It's like a puppy waiting desperately for a home!

They were indeed going for the sleeper look with it and the 6 MPS alike.

is it registered though? or would you be getting a 161 plate on it? at this rate it'd be interesting even from a warranty point of view.

my bet is that it will never shift, it's belong to the archives out there and make an epic barn find for someone in 25 years time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,920 ✭✭✭✭MetzgerMeister

The fact that it keeps being advertised as a new car every year would make me think that it hasn't been registered yet. Warranty may only kick in once the car is actually sold.

Almost one month left before I will be driving in Ireland for the first time ever :o

    In a LHD MX5?

I thought you had driven in Ireland before though.

if it's an 07 model, parts will be fecking discontinued soon :pac:

There was once an unregistered Alfa 156 GTA on Carzone that sat there in the back of a garage for a similar length of time. I think it went to the UK in the end.

There's also 2 2005 model Lotus Elise's floating around with 09 reg plates.
