You mean the anonymous guy who has anonymous family in the game?

Wait a second...how do I know you're really Eugene Norman and not just some schmuck pretending to be Eugene Norman?

I am definitely a schmuck and definitely pretending to be Eugene Norman who isn't actually me, nor I him. Whoever he is. Two random names based on a guy I once knew called Eugene and the 11th C invaders of England.

I was replying to somebody who decried the authority of a poster on the Internet while claiming authority him/herself.

Under the mistaken assumption militarily they can do what they want. That has been proven incorrect. Also I guess they really under estimated Turkeys Air defence and interception times.

Maybe. On the other hand they don't seem to think they can do what they want anymore than the West. As far as I know the UN hasn't authorised anybody in Syria.

I think he was referring to the state of Russia's Military.

A mere shadow of the former Soviet Union.

Sorry to disappoint, I'm not swigging the vodka and thinking of the USSR glory days.

    Not swigging vodka but Guinness?

Regarding that video of the heli being blown to pieces.
Seems that channel is from the 1st Coastal Division, who are FSA-alligned troops supplied with American TOW missiles (as can be seen there).

Putin no longer looks the great leader. Amazing how quickly the myth dissolves: a downed jet, a helicopter forced down and destroyed, a botched rescue. Turkey and himself are well met: devious, duplicitous, enmeshed in promoting regional conflict to their own advantage. But for the fact the Turks are in NATO and have connived in the flooding of Europe with refugees this clash would be exactly what both deserve.

The bigger point is that the Balkans and Turkey are a quagmire that Europe should steer well clear of. "Some damn thing in the Balkans" a man said once before 1914. He was proved tragically right.

I hope Putin lights up Turkey tonight, Erdogan is a Muslim terrorist and a strategic Cruise Missile fired from the Black Sea would quickly neutralize the Turkish if they could eliminate Erdogan. Nato are too frightened to act and Putin should call their bluff and start a campaign of retribution against the Turks. Obama is fully behind Islamic State and Syria is just like the Spanish Civil War a training ground for the bigger battle ahead.

Last I checked Russian backed Assad is making gains and Turkey's allies ISIS are losing a lot of ground.

Turkey downing a plane won't stop Iran and Russia from preventing these Sunni fundamentalists from taking power.

    Probably not.

Russia has no real options to engage Turkey militarily & it doesn't want to anyway.

Besides, whats the point launching a missile at Turkey when Sevastopol is in easy range for Turkish missiles.

Remind us again how they will Fair against NATO, It's not the USSR anymore. Turkey has already superior detection and interception.

Just imagine a Nato member flying into Russian airspace for a few seconds and being blown out of the sky. You'd have the anti Russians on here absolutely destroying them (and rightfully so). But when a Nato member does it to the Russians its "they shouldn't of being in Turkeys airspace". The hypocrisy of some on here sickens me.

Who is anti Russian ?? Does one mean Anti Russian military thinking it can do what ever it likes. And to be fair there would be no reason to Shoot down NATO aircraft as they don't fly into peoples boarders.

the only bit of your post that has any merrit is that russia should take revenge against turkey for this act of war

I'm very highly educated. I know words, i have the best words, nobody has better words then me.

So Russia invading airspace was never an act of war ? You know as they were warned not to do it again.

Putin could wipe out Turkey in one hour if he wanted, wipe Ankara and Istanbul off the map with a Nuclear strike, Will America, Britain and France retaliate against Putin and risk MAD? I think the time has come for Putin to really show the world what Russia is made of and should immediately launch strikes against Turkey. I'd shed no tears if I woke up to see Turkey turned to glass. Putin should look to the past and see what Russia is capable of and remember what NATO isn't capable of.

You just hate Russia don't you. If they wanted they could turn Turkey into ash within a few days, but luckily Putin is not a physcopath.

Jesus, this thread is a farce, of the highest proportions.

NOBODY HERE KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED.

It's almost comical to watch. Very few on here have any true idea of what is really going on in the region, I pretty much read a lot of posts as someone talking loudly, crazy eyes, frothing at the mouth all the while. It's fcukin ridiculous. It might as well all be in full caps.

(yeah, I realise that there's a sentence in this post, full caps and all, but none of us know the full details, this thread has descended into a screaming match basically, no one side will win. But yet the circle of speculation and blame continues unabated. Along with the "proof I've shown" ****)

It'd be entertaining if if wasn't so ****in polarised. (all arguments of this nature will be polarised, but I wish to **** they'd stop ruining after hours, used to be light hearted banter about issues of the day, not this scutter)

Lay off the Vodka, No one is launching Nuclear weapons. Well in the leaders followers wet dreams they are. And again It may not be a MAD situation anymore I would like to see data on Russia being able to still strike pretty much the Entire world like it used to and not just select places.

Two of Natos biggest members illegally flew into Iraqi borders around 14 years ago and turned the country into a state rife with Islamic extremism, creating this mess we are in today.

Fairly obvious that the turks, being one of the prime backers of ISIS are getting nervy about increased cooperation between western players and the russians hence the attempt to drive a wedge back between them

Hopefully a few senior turks wind up getting jabbed with umbrellas, might soften their coughs a bit

Hate to break it to one, But there have always been and always will be Islamic extremism in the area. They were killing each other well before the west got involved and will be well after the west get the hell out. So again Why will Russia be shooting down NATO aircraft invading it's Airspace.
