S/he probably never heard the term bítch...

Might have heard it and not realised it was a female only term, or not related to dogs at all. Though nowadays you hear bitch used for men.

On a similar note there are people about who think "bastard" & "wanker" are male only terms too -maybe one for this "obvious" thread.

I remember a woman masturbating in her sleep in a hotel room full of people being called a wanker and lots had never considered it as a term for a woman before.

I never knew Lanzarote was part of the Canary Islands until last week. I also thought there were only 2 islands.

The numbers on a calculator/keyboard numberpad are arranged differently to those on a phone. I'm an accountant and use them everyday and am only realising this now

Yes. Hand gliding would be an entirely different ball game.

That rap stands for Rhythm And Poetry!

That's a backronym. "To rap" is just an English verb which describes a style of speech.

I've just realised and accepted that the washing is never going to end. I get it down to a nice manageable level and then all of a sudden in one day its just back again to a mountainous pile in the washing basket :(

I dont know if the correct phrase is
    "To add injury to insult"

    or

    "To add insult to injury"

I could google it, but I'll just wallow in shame for now.

When you have to run a tap for ages to get some hot water there's a double wastage going on:
    1. Waste of cold water that comes out first and goes straight down the sink.
    2. Afterwards, waste of heat from the hot water now in the pipe between the immersion and the tap.
Second one not so obvious perhaps.

That the word "nappy" (ie. diaper) derives from the word "napkin".
