Pretty unfair on Fellaini. He's not in the top rank of players, but I always thought he could do a job for us and he has. If we sell him, who would you buy for the same money or less who would strengthen the squad? For someone who was complaining about the standard of the thread, just saying we should get rid of a player you never liked without offering any options to replace him isn't constructive.

    Fair point Hotblack

Ok so we have a couple of young players in Depay and Perreira, tricky, pacy and technical players that like to go at players who've been left sitting on their whilst this guy gets brought on cos he can do a job.. guys like that can do things too, put defenders on the back foot, win free's and penalties and get crosses in to the strikers (I know that's not LVG opus operandi).. they could be given their chance and won't cost a penny

I'm sorry to say but we're Manchester United, we should never have players who can "do a job" and after 2 and a half season I still have no idea what that job is that he does. We'd players like Phil Neville and John O'Shea that over time covered several positions but those types of players always contributed wherever they played. They were minor downgrades on players they replaced but they always contributed.

If Memphis was in form then he'd be an automatic starter in most games - still need to be able to rotate the team though.

Pereira is getting more chances to play and I agree we should be looking to this sort of player first, that doesn't mean it's the only type of player we can have in the squad.

    I'm partial to your abracadabra,

I'm raptured by the joy of it all.

When did Fellaini not contribute when he was played last season? I'd argue he had more of an impact last season than in any campaign O'Shea or Neville ever had.

LVG seems to be bringing him on in midfield a bit more now which is good as he offers something that the other players in there lack. He should be playing a bit more if anything with Schweinsteiger getting a few more days on the bench imo.

He's not competing at all with Depay or Pereira as they are being played on the wing. I'd also trust him way more to save the game than either of those players.

Wow, a new record for one of your pointless comments. You should go to the internet Olympics.

You're being fierce harsh in Fellaini brinty.
If we had bought him this year or last year I don't think you would have the outrage for him.

He is a fairly decent player. I would much prefer him playing for us than for any of the other challengers.

This chest thumping we are Manchester utd, we score when we want is nonsense and best served to fools in my opinion.

Yes he is competing with those players. They're not like for like players but any sub coming in should be looking to make an impact. Who was it that was booed when brought in to replace Martial in that CSKA game. Fellaini, if my memory hasn't gone, because it was a negative substitution.

Didn't he have a go at someone for doing exactly what he did a few days ago when he was outraged at lingard being called up.

Not gonna check but gonna assume he did.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a player that offers a totally different approach to a game. It's not as if he is starting every game and the tactics are set around him.

as brinty said, if Utd got 20m for fellaini in January (which they wouldn't) and they signed Mane for the same price, it would be a great deal

    But why not have both?

    But why not have both?

I'm just saying if the situation arose, not every day you get offered 20m for a player and come summer I feel he will be surplus to requirements anyway as we splurge another 100-150m on players.

no fellaini, rooney or martial for the game tomorrow. FOOK.

Wilson up top? Depay back into the side?

Wonder if Ashley Fletcher will get a call up, only oter striker at teh club I can think of.

Craig Norwood ‏@CraigNorwood 2m2 minutes ago
Christ on a bike! Martial, Rooney, Fellaini, Carrick and Valencia unavailable for the away match at Watford.

add to that Shaw and we are in a right bad state, disaster...

front 4 of Mata, Herrera, Depay and Wilson?

and i am not convinced we will see Smalling either.

Depay and Perreira have a shot now ;)
    Wilson as the #9
We could do with another #9

Lingard has done nothing to suggest he should be dropped so maybe Herrera with SCHmidfield.. or bench incase one gets injured..
