I've yet to see the film, but I heard Saoirses performance is worth the cinema ticket to go and see "Brooklyn".

Cillian Murphy in "the wind that shakes the barley" was excellent for me. He portrayed the character brilliantly and I found myself getting upset near the end.

Only half Irish I guess, but Daniel Day-Lewis in My left foot would win it for me.

    Michael Fassbender.

Hard to choose between Hunger, Shame, 12 Years a Slave and Steve Jobs. He was very good in Frank too even though you don't see his face for most of the movie.

    An excellent peno kicker!

I thought Bríd Brennan was very good in "Anne Devlin".

Colin Farrel in Tigerland, showing he was a great actor before he went down hill to trying to be a movie star.

(honorary mention to Brendan Gleeson on the Late Late some years ago giving a masterclass in outrage (using the HSE as his prompt to show his skill))

Skellig Michael in Star Wars. A solid performance.

For me it has to be Richard Harris in 'The Field'.

Coincidentally I went to the cinema to watch a play tonight....! :pac:

It was the NT Live version of 'Of Mice and Men'. Chris O'Dowd was absolutely brilliant in it as Lennie (James Franco was George ). Not a huge fan of him, but I wasn't expecting that performance.

Not so apparently. A very rocky performance overall and all at sea in some scenes.

Saoirse Ronan in Brooklyn was brilliant. The entire film was really lovely without being trite or cliche, well worth the trip to the cinema

    The Guard - Brendan Gleeson

He was better in Calvary and In Bruges, I think

It was uncomfortable watching but I thought Pat Shortt did a cracking job in The Garage (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0878674/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_15)

I have to agree. She portrays the role so well. An amazing performance and I'd be surprised if she didn't bag an Oscar
