    Julia Roberts : Michael Collins...

    Joking aside though,
Richard Harris the field deffo needs another mention.
+1 for cillian Murphy in the wind that shakes the barley, also thought the girl that plays his missus in the same was very good. Name escapes me.

Colin farrel in tiger land was quite good too , didn't quite nail the accent but a very solid early performance.

Breedon glee son in I went down was quite good.

Aidan quinn in (I think it was) song for a ranggy boy? was superb.

Mick Lally, 50 Shades of Hay.

In Mick Lally's last feature film performance he did full frontal nudity.

    No joke.

Not so apparently. A very rocky performance overall and all at sea in some scenes.

Did you know that Daniel Day Lewis originally auditioned for the part eventually given to Skellig Micheal. He sat in the Sea for three weeks to get a feel for the part but had to give it up because Sinn Fein tried to claim him as an Irish Landmark. True story.

I was going to say shorter junkie of the two (Paul) in the film Adam and Paul. Played by Tom Murphy. But it turns out he was born in Rhodesia/Zimbabwe! http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0614755/?ref_=tt_ov_st

I was on a flight to Hong Kong a few weeks back when I decided to watch a western called Slow West.

Fassbender had the lead role. It's a stunning piece of film. The art of storytelling and silent malice.

Peter O'Toole (perhaps British-Irish, although he did consider Connemara his home and his remains were returned there after he died) was great in many films, but Lawrence of Arabia is probably the stand-out.
