    Heh great semantics!
Either way "Fortress Europe" is locked up tight as a sieve at the moment.

European navies rescue people at sea and bring them ashore, while the poor "post-austerity" border countries waive them through to the wealthy North.

As well as this immigration insanity cluster-fk, Europe's foreign policy in the ME is also a mess with no sign of anything positive on the horizon; the best idea "the leaders" have had about migration was to try and bribe Turkey and Africa to hold on to people that they don't want, who want to leave anyway! It's a scary time.

Just checked RTE there and they said it was called off due to a suspicious package but their was no threat? I know it's RTE so it may be completely wrong.

Just thought I'd share a Twitter account I just read about.
    https://twitter.com/Raqqa_SL
"Raqqa is being slaughtered silently/Syrian campaign against ISIS".

They say they will report if any civilians are killed in the raids. So far, none.
They actually enjoy the raids as women get a little bit more freedom while ISIS fighters are "running like rats". They get to feel the fresh air on their faces as no one is screaming at them to put on the veils.

The article linking to that Twitter is here (in French) : http://www.20minutes.fr/monde/1732035-20151117-attentats-paris-population-raqqa-fief-daesh-vit-attente-bombardements?utm_campaign=Echobox&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook

I'm French, living in Ireland, and I'm completely bewildered tbh.

I agree and disagree with practically everything (that is not too extreme) on this thread.

I want military action, but I understand how it's not good.
I want European countries to close their borders, but I don't want innocent Muslims (and others) fleeing atrocities to be let down.
I agree the values of tolerance and togetherness should be exercised to fight off extremism, but I have experienced the difficulties in that too, and I kind of think it's useless and prolongs the current situation.
I want Muslims to react to extremists killing in the name of their own religion, I think it's first and foremost their business to deal with it, but I understand the fear and helplessness, and possible involvement of other nations.
I want other nations to stop supplying ISIS, but I wonder would that be enough to extinguish them.

This thread is informative at times, but I don't read it all as there are all these arguments dragging on and not helping much with the discussion, and then sometimes people present as facts things that I'm not quite sure anyone knows are facts (like who supports who, who's responsible for the creation of what).

Seamus I'm very impressed about your post earlier about very targeted and limited military intervention on supplies... But I think it's too slow.

I think I think (:o) that very precisely targeted military intervention is needed right now. After all, it's possible, right ? To keep it as tightly targeted on supplies and ISIS fighters as possible. Except the fighters are likely to keep a few civilians with them for PR the b@stards...

On the Twitter Raqqa (civilians) account, they say the French bombings are very precise so far, they are more worried about Russia and others (for safety of civilians).

Hope Putin doesn't go ruining it.

Sorry for the long post. I'm confused.

The reason why everyone dislikes the Assad gvt is because his strikes are seen as imprecise and the bombing is impacting the civilian population. Yet nobody wants to help train his army (other than the Russians) or provide military support for him to take on the Jihadists.

What policy exactly? Care to point out the policy? I am well aware of the definition, and that is all you have provided and 0 evidence of any such French policy of multi-cultirism.
Everything I have read about France shows no such policy in existence.

I see no promotion of any other culture except French culture. France doesn't have any such policy.
The policy is promote French culture and see 0 evidence to suggest otherwise.
Calm down, I was posting the definition in case you were using a different definition.
I've never claimed France had an multi-cultural policies, so no I'm not going to be providing any evidence of them.

Channel 4 presenter saying its a insult to Muslims

Even the Catholic church reformed several times ....

Why can't Islam and Isalm leader look at changing and taking some of he violence out of the doctrine

Why anyone would want to build their life on the word of one man from hundreds of years ago is beyond me....madness

There is no "Islamic church" per se and there is certainly no leader. The Shia have different arrangements to them, but certainly the Sunni are a body of believers with scholars and so on - there isn't really a church like much of Protestantism let alone Catholicism.

What you want and what is for the better good are not the same

Everything needs ot evolve including religion (especially if written hundreds of years ago)

Unfortunately its not comic, given that there are numbers of people like you who have made up their minds and will not have them changed. Nor is that attitude uniquely deployed against muslims, or new to the world.

It's hard to change my mind about Islam, when everything I predict comes true. I hope to be wrong, in the future. I really hope I'm wrong.

Muslims believe the Quran as revealed to Muhammad is the actual literal word of Allah. And as Allah is perfect it cannot be changed or amended. For Muslims the Quran is prefection.

The reason everyone hates Assad is because he's an ally of Russia and Iran and an enemy of our good friends Saudi Arabia.

Much easier to replace him with some shanty government that can be easily controlled. Especially since Iraq is now also an ally of Iran, and it wouldn't look too good having to go in and overthrow the 'democratic' shanty government that you've just installed.

Mohammed's method of spreading Islam also happens to be the same as IS. Of course this has nothing to do with Islam. Or something.
