We can go around in circles, but I don't think it would do anything to change either of our points of view.

I do, because it would mean that moderate Islam joins us in standing up to islamism. I would genuinely love that to happen. No messing.

Like when Immams showed up at the French embassy to offer their condolences and condemn the attacks? Or the condemnation of the attacks by various heads of (Islamic) states?

Eh... Might need a new thread but:

Saudi Arabia declares all atheists are terrorists in new law to crack down on political dissidents
Article one of the new provisions defines terrorism as "calling for atheist thought in any form, or calling into question the fundamentals of the Islamic religion on which this country is based".

This has come up before. 'What have the moderates said?' 'Here is what the moderates have said' followed by 'its not enough''/they mean something other than what they said' /'taqqiya'/'then why don't they' and so on. Like clockwork.

Yes, a few inams have come out with a statement. That's really good news, but there's nothing wrong with expecting more. Do you not agree?

Irish american refer to themselfs as just that 'Irish American.

what they call themselves, doesn't change what they are. American citizens , nor does it make them any less an American citizen for using that moniker. Equally its far too simplistic to single out Belgian Iraqis and claim they have split allegiances

anyway , its more like there will use the term French Muslim , Ive heard people describe themselves as irish Muslims, rathre similar to the term Irish Catholics

note that the people I refer to have Irish citizenry , Im not referring to people with foreign nationalities

I'm starting to think it's merely Taqiyya in action.

I wonder if countries will cut off economic and diplomatic ties with SA over that

Will Enda Kenny come out and condemn the decision in the strongest of terms? I'm guessing not after his government decided to lower our state flags to half-mast after their king died a few months ago.

SA are known to be funding ISIS, yet the biggest and richest countries in the world have billion dollar arms deals with them. Yet it's refugees that people complain about. Useful idiots the lot of us

Few more come out with it = 'still should be more'/'taqqiya' again.

Years ago some papers in Britain seemed to expect the first thing every irish person should do every morning was attend a parade condemning the RA and handing over every and all persons even suspected of Republican sympathies. This was rightly regarded as a simplistic, stupid and fairly nasty bit of demonization. It doesn't get any better when applied to muslims.

Could they not work with the authorities to identify extremists in their community?

Is that asking too much? I don't think it is, considering that they clearly condemn such people.

Moderate Muslims should be ostracising these people, since they dislike them so much?

Actions speak louder than statements to the press.

    Right?

That bloke down the street, the one that rants on after a few drinks about how the Brits are all evil and we shouldn't rest until they're all expelled and/or dead, have you reported him to the Gardai?

If he is really serious about people being dead, like he made threats? Yes.

I think you are missing the point , Irish americans are indeed american citizens but they identify with both parts of the 'Irish American' bit ... Belgian Turks / French Moroccans dont relate with the first part of the term at all, yes they have citizenship but they do not consider themselves a citizens of Belgium or France.

The drunk guy down the street is fairly unlikely to kill 130 people of a Friday evening in Paris.

The silence on the Islam forum was deafening and the thread on this topic was shut down after just 3 pages by a heavy handed mod. Anything even remotely critical of Islam gets shut down within a few posts.

    QUOTE : MS1962:
"You can't artificially separate Islam 'the religion' from its inherent political objectives. The Islamic system is intrinsically political - the aim of Islam is to subject the entire world to Sharia Law by hook or by crook. Well, now the entire world is slowly, slowly waking up to the reality of Islam and more and more people are researching what it is and reading for themselves rather than just what the BBC tells them. And no, I am not challenging/commenting on your moderation - you made a contributing comment which is wrong on this thread and I am challenging it. Hopefully you can take the correction. ;-)"

Was a good post though, whatever about the mod questioning faux pas.

I doubt many mosques are playing ball. That's my hunch. Your hunch is that loads are.

Those are the only facts, I suppose. Two hunches.

I just wanted to chime in here and point out that it is possible to be both Irish and American at the same time, no doubt this is also true of Dutch/Morrocan or Belgian/Turkish...

I don't really expect all of the mononationals to understand, but I assure you it's true.

You should immediately pen a strongly worded letter to all the security forces in the world asking why they are not publishing a detailed list of the information they have received directly from Muslim Islamic sources.

It's outrageous that we, the general public, don't know how many mosques and/or which mosques are supplying information on militants to the authorities.

I have Swiss/Irish/German nieces. They have very strong Cork accents (when speaking English anyway....) even though they have never lived in Ireland.

only if you hold dual nationalities, a practice that is only tolerated by a few countries ( one being ireland )

You can claim to be sympathetically attached to a " mother land ", but that is all it is, an attachment.

Your nationality is defined by a set of rules.
