I've never seen them route via Dublin before like that, I'm sure theres a reason though.

5pm TAF for SNN tommorow giving a prob40% tempo 260degrees 38kts gusting 55 from 2-5pm, which if came to be would likely halt operations.

ORK also forecasting a 40% tempo of 260 degrees 30kts gusting 45kts, between 12pm-5pm, which would also stop most operations at Cork due to that being a severe crosswind.

Too early to tell yet by the TAF's, but tommorow isn't exactly the day to be flying by the looks of it.

Wind ATM in Cork is calm interestingly (According to ATC)

Crosswind of 19kts. Headwind of 52kts. Theoretically there is no max headwind limit only cross and tailwind limits. But it would be a foolish pilot not to know there own personal headwind limits.
In my experience anything over 45kts is difficult to control (on my type) on the ground as the aircraft is looking to keep flying!

EI845 just went around at cork and landed on the second attempt.. Fog is the likely cause.

Hope its windy as fook inthe morning for my take-off, I love a windy one, especially when the plane turns sideways

That may rule out 17/35 at ORK but what about Stobarts and Cityjet operating on 25/07?

Think the gusts are still a little high for the stobarts (to be able to handle, not sure there is a headwind limit), not sure about the cityjets.

The 11pm TAF will be out soon, will post up info if there's anything interesting.

    11PM TAFs out

    Dublin
    Coded TAF: EIDW 162300Z 1700/1724 23007KT 9999 SCT017 BKN030 PROB30 TEMPO 1700/1705 VRB03KT BKN015 BECMG 1705/1707 19005KT -RA BKN015 BECMG 1707/1709 14009KT TEMPO 1707/1712 5000 RA BKN010 BECMG 1710/1712 18014G25KT BECMG 1712/1714 24023G39KT NSW FEW015 BKN022 TEMPO 1714/1719 25030G45KT -RA BKN015 PROB30 TEMPO 1716/1718 26033G50KT BECMG 1719/1721 27023G38KT BECMG 1721/1724 25017G28KT

Decoded TAF: (I picked out the most relevant bits)
    Becoming 10am-12pm 180degrees (S) 14kts gusting 25kts
    Becoming 12pm-2pm 240 degrees (WSW) 23kts gusting 39kts
    Tempo 2pm-7pm 250 degrees (WSW) 30kts gusting 45kts
    Prob 30% temp 4pm-6pm 260 degrees (W) at 33kts gusting 50kts

Wind shouldn't be too much of an issue, maybe the tempo from 4pm-6pm may cause a few problems if theres turbulence and windshear about.

    Cork
    Coded TAF:
    TAF: EICK 162300Z 1700/1724 35005KT 9999 FEW010 BKN018 BECMG 1700/1702 VRB03KT PROB40 TEMPO 1700/1706 2000 BR BKN004 BECMG 1704/1706 22010KT 5000 -RADZ BKN007 TEMPO 1706/1711 2000 RA BKN003 BECMG 1706/1708 18015G27KT BECMG 1708/1710 21023G38KT BECMG 1710/1712 24027G43KT BECMG 1711/1713 9999 NSW BKN018 TEMPO 1713/1717 25032G48KT PROB30 TEMPO 1713/1717 5000 -RA BKN010 BECMG 1716/1718 28022G38KT BECMG 1718/1720 27018G30KT BECMG 1720/1722 25013KT BECMG 1722/1724 BKN013

Decoded TAF: (Again I picked out the relevant info)
    Becoming 6am-8am 180 degrees (S) 15kts gusting 27kts
    Becoming 8am-10am 210 degrees (SSW) 23kts gusting 38kts
    Becoming 10am-12pm 240 degrees (WSW) 27kts gusting 43kts
    Tempo 1pm-5pm 250 degrees (WSW) 32kts gusting 48kts
    Becoming 4pm-6pm 280 degrees (W) 22kts gusting 38kts
    Becoming 6pm-8pm 270 degrees (W) 18kts gusting 30kts

Cork will suffer massively tomorrow with an almost complete crosswind from 10am onwards. Id be surprised if anything manages to land between 10am and 4pm with those winds.

    Shannon

    TAF: EINN 162300Z 1700/1724 VRB03KT 9999 FEW015 BKN030 TEMPO 1700/1704 BKN012 PROB30 TEMPO 1700/1704 3000 BR BKN005 BECMG 1701/1704 15005KT BECMG 1704/1706 10010KT -RA BKN012 BECMG 1706/1708 14012KT TEMPO 1706/1711 4000 RA BKN008 BECMG 1708/1710 16020G32KT BECMG 1710/1712 24027G42KT BECMG 1711/1713 NSW FEW012 BKN020 BECMG 1712/1714 24032G47KT TEMPO 1714/1717 25037G52KT PROB40 TEMPO 1714/1716 26040G60KT PROB30 TEMPO 1713/1717 5000 -RA BKN012 BECMG 1716/1718 28025G42KT BECMG 1718/1720 27022G35KT BECMG 1720/1722 26015G26KT BECMG 1722/1724 20012KT BKN015

Decoded TAF: (Again relevant into picked)

    Becoming 10am-12pm 240 degrees (WSW) 27kts gusting 42kts

    Tempo 2pm-5pm 250 degrees (WSW) 37kts gusting 52kts
    Prob 40% Tempo 2pm-4pm 260 degrees (W) 40kts gusting 60kts
    Becoming 4pm-6pm 280 degrees (W) 25kts gusting 42kts
    Becoming 6pm-8pm 270 degrees (W) 22kts gusting 35kts
    Becoming 8pm-10pm 260 degrees (W) 15kts gusting 26kts

Shannon will have a bad crosswind early morning, but that shouldnt cause many problems due to the winds being light. For the rest of the day the wind is either directly aligned with the runway or close to it, so there probably wont be must disruption outside of the 40kts gusting 60kts.

Nothing notable on Knock, max is 3pm-5pm 300degrees (WNW) 20kts gusting 33

To assist any new people on the thread can you put the coded TAFs with the decoded version? That way everyone can learn to read them in short hand (Coded version). It won't sound like the proffesionals are up on our high horse if everyone understands our lingo:D:D

As I like to pick up obscure peices of info: the TAFs and METARs were originally coded in their current short hand version to cut down on the amount of words sent via morse and telex ( remember them:D) each 5 letter "word" or group of text was charged for by the Carrier company ie. Marconi etc.

It's funny how things change, I can analyse and interpret a coded TAF/METAR much quicker than a decoded one, i just got into the habit of ignoring the decoded option and ploughed on with getting to grips with the coded version.

I agree with what growler says, it would be useful to have the coded version posted also to help people understand the shorthand associated with it.

Lads and lassies, has anyone noticed the upgraded fr24 pro app on iOS has done away with the different aircraft icons? They've made it a separate in app purchase.

I'm in the middle of an email exchange with their support who are insisting this has always been the case and I never had different aircraft icons. I most certainly had.

It's one of the reasons I bought the pro version and out of principal I never buy in app purchases in a paid app. Anyway just wondering if others had noticed here. There are a few posts on their own forum about it..

Are you mixing up pro and premium.
I thought I had to pay for them as an in app purchase using pro on Android. But they were included when I used premium and log in.

I don't think so, in iOS the app i purchased was flight radar 24 pro. The free one was just called flight radar 24.

Since the latest app upgrade they've dropped the pro from the app name. But mine still has most of the old pro features except the plane icons.

I've never logged in to the premium version on the website. So I can't comment on that.

I'm feeling a bit defrauded now, as I paid for the app, used to have these icons. Now they're gone and they want me to pay for them again via an in app purchase.

Seems a ****ty thing to do.

Cessna Citation took off DUB RWY10 while LH978 on approach to RWY28. I'd say that was interesting for both sets of pilots seeing a plane heading straight for them for a while!

They stopped using the different plane icons a long time ago and changed it to an optional in app purchase (on the regular paid app). Flight radar premium comes with all the add ons.

Naw it only gets interesting in foreign countries where they dont have radar and the controllers are talking to one aircraft in a different language.

In Dublin it wouldn't be an issue.

Update on storm force winds for this evening:

"The Dublin region including parts of Kildare, north Wicklow and south will feel the full force of this windstorm at about 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with 90-100 km/hr sustained winds and gusts perhaps reaching 130 km/hr."
    - Irish Weather Online @ 13:00.

    Thats roughly 55-70 Knots.

Will flights be cancelled or just diverted inbound from Dublin?
