You want this to go nuclear?

    Are you serious?

Has the possibility of retaliation crossed your mind at all?

Paris would be a city of twisted steel and rubble.

You are going to get lashed out it for saying that but It may have to come to that someday

Don't think most people know what the West has gotten itself into

Jaysus all I can say is thank fook you are not in charge of any military.

Nuking Raqqah would frankly be a waste of a nuke. All it will do is kill thousands who's only crime was that their city was taken over by murdering scum. It would have a minimal effect on the military capabilities of IS.

Now taking out their oil fields on the other hand...

So whats your idea so that an incident that makes Paris pale in signifance doesn't happen?

I've yet to hear anyone promoting a non violent solution to the problem explain how you resolve the issue of ISIL given the fact they have zero will to talk and just want to bring death. Never mind the fact that they lack the organisational coherence.

    +1
I hate the thought of the violent option, but haven't seen any proposals on what else could be done at this point.

I could link the evidence to show that yes, there were Irish ghettos but you don't read links so I shan't bother.

What have European leaders learned since the attacks in January? It seems to be very little if anything. While at the beginning of the year we had the hashtag of #JeSuisCharlie and the pencil now in November we have #Solidarite and candles. Meanwhile the Jihadists have shotguns, Glocks, AK47s, grenades, TNT, body-armour, suicide vests, idiotic European leaders and an open border policy (which they said they were going to exploit). Sure what could go wrong?

Thankfully it only appears to be major European leaders that are unwilling to actually do something constructive about the problem of mass immigration. Poland's newly elected government will not take any immigrants [1]. In Sweden of the 8 parties, 7 support the continuing trend of uncontrolled immigration, with only one against. That party is the Sweden Democrats and they are now fortunately the most popular in the country [2]. With 74% of French people stating that "Islam “is not compatible with French society” [3] and over 360,000 people in the U.K. wanting the government to close its borders [4] maybe just maybe this situation might be resolved.

Immigration is a good thing, when it is controlled, yet having so many come in with no process to assess who is who and an open border policy is doomed to fail and another incident like the one that happened in Paris is inevitable.

Lastly there are certainly people who hate Muslims & the events in Paris won't help at all yet it is sad when some conflate the concerns ordinary people have with terrorism, Jihadists & open borders with racism. This does nothing to solve the issue & only makes the ones that are making the claim of racism look idiotic & only lessens any argument that they try to make.

There is no free travel between Syria and the rest of Continental Europe yet they are somehow finding themselves all the way in central Paris. Airlines already have huge security and vetting measures in place. The problem is internal. Muslims organised to fight either in Syria or Iraq or in mainland Europe.

    Ok.

    It went something like this:

One particular poster was getting very worked up about the age of Muhammad's wife - mentioned it in several posts.

I pointed out that old goats (and yes, that is what I called him) frequently married young girls and, by way of example, it was the norm for the Byzantine emperors.
What can I say - I'm a historian - looking at things in their historical context is part of my training and professionally I would be hammered if I didn't so you could say I went to my default setting.

The come back was that some Muslims still do it - I pointed out that so do some Christians and in fact the highest proportion of child bride marriages is among Hindus in India.

This is not a justification of some Muslims marrying young girls it it pointing out that they do not have a monopoly on being dirty old men.

okay, fair enough, the “so do some christians” argument just seemed a little weak, considering the mormons are really just a weird fringe group in christianity and their “spiritual marriage” does, according to your link, not even involve sex, whereas little girls are routinely exposed to ordeals no child should have to go through in many muslim countries with the full backing of islam…and if mentioning that is “bashing islam”, then so be it and i am bashing islam…

How do you know they don't?
    Enough money can buy anything.

Thing about ISIS is they seem to like threaten then carry out that threat..
Islamic State has claimed it is 'infinitely' closer to buying a nuclear bomb from Pakistan and smuggling it into the US.

How do you think wealthy nations in the Middle East will feel about a nuke being dropped by Europeans?

Bash away but bash all the other old goats too.

Don't forget - little girls and boys had to endure ordeals no child should in non-Muslim countries too - like Ireland. By the clergy.

    Context see.

Bash all the dirty old goats equally.

Islamic State are only a terrorist organisation, Wealthy nations in the Middle East are the real enemy and the airstrikes tonight should be on Doha, Riyadh and Mecca, the main drivers of Islamic hatred across the world with their brand of stone age Wahhabi hate.

You have to hand it to the Americans they at least do security a hell of a lot better than the Europeans; I can't see Islamic State pulling off anything over there, unless they manage to float across enmasse across the Atlantic into North America like they are currently doing with the invasion of Greece.

They switched all their attention to the Greek debt crisis. More than ever I am not sure that key European leaders are working in the bests interests of the European people. Finance/banking seems to be their main priority.

Terror is the name of their game and a 'credible' nuclear threat against the U.S. will definitely cause terror.

The more of their threats that ISIS carry through the more credible the treat becomes.

There is a serious lack of understanding of who isis are and what they want extant not only in the media in general but in 99% of discussion about them.
This is a long read, - but the best I've seen by a mile. Enjoy.

Sure - bomb Mecca and wait and see what the Saudi's will do with all the weapons the West sold them.

    Bye Bye the Vatican perhaps.

US security can't seem to prevent high school students going on killing rampages or police officers from shooting innocent people but you expect them to be able to stop determined trained suicide bombers?

Do you think IS don't already have people in the U.S?

    Really?

Maybe they are too focused on trying to prop up the tinfoil hat industry ? They all probably have undeclared shares in it. And are taking backhanders from it. Their election campaigns are funded by it as well.

    That and the tablet industry.

    We can but hope....

But drop a Nuke on Syria and I have no doubt IS would get their hands on a nuke from somewhere.
Over the past five years the FBI, working in conjunction with local authorities in Moldova, have interrupted four attempts made by nuclear smugglers to sell radioactive materials to Middle Eastern extremists, including ISIS. According to the AP, "the latest known case came in February this year, when a smuggler offered a huge cache of deadly cesium -- enough to contaminate several city blocks -- and specifically sought a buyer from the Islamic State group."

ISIS has already shown its willingness to use chemical weapons against civilian targets, so there should be no question that if given the means and opportunity, they would do the same with nuclear or radiological weapons.
