I'd say you're a sick person bit id probably get another warning or a ban.

Naturally a man's kids are the most important things to him but do I think my children are worth more than someone else's just because they were lucky enough to be born in Ireland? Do I ****.

Plus they really learned their lesson after the Boston Marathon fiasco.

You may have never been to an RC mass, but most of us probably have been to one or two.

It may be a shock to notice that all of its scripture sourced contents are that from the New Testament... all readings, all letters.
ergo, the teachings of Christ & the writings of his followers.

So again.... please quote something from the teachings of Christ (the guy who founded the whole shebang), that can be interpreted as a call to murder?

    thanks
You do also know that Catholics aren't supposed to interpret meanings from the Bible (Old or New T). That is the job of the Church. Most of the "homosexuality is a sin" stuff came from the OT - didn't stop the Catholic Church incorporating it in its teachings.

Anyways back on topic, religion (as much as I don't like it) isn't responsible for these horrible attacks, religious extremism is. Singling out groups en-masse because of a shared religion is likely to drive those people towards extremism.

Correct, it is all that matters.

But I never said ISIS didnt exist prior to 2003. I said 2003, and its subsequent clusterfk which continues right up to present day, is what has led to the massacre that has taken place tonight. Unless you can show me an ISIS/AL Qui'ada massacre in a western european capital prior to 2003? Since then we have had Madrid, London, Paris and Paris. All Muslim extremists. All pp1ssed off at their countries being used as resource hubs by western powers. It should be self-evident really.

I'm pretty sure Himmler was a Catholic.

Which should probably put these absurd generalisations where they belong.

Himmler was a Nazi. An entirely different and opposite belief system to Christianity. Christians believe all men are equal for one. How does this fit in with the nazi superman?

No person who believed in Nazism could be Christian. The two are opposing ideals.

Nazism took more ideas from Hindusm than from Christiany.

A life of an Irishman is more important to me than that of a Syrian. I thought this would be the case for everyone living here.

Could this be a world changing event? France will probably force Europe into more stringent border controls.

Quite frankly, despite whether or Not UK/US have influenced ISIS I think it's time for the west to either take control or allow the Mid East implode from within

If its more home grown terrorism, what do you do?

    Angela Merkel, chancellor of Germany:

"I am deeply shaken by the news and pictures that are reaching us from Paris. My thoughts in these hours are with the victims of what appears to be a terrorist attack, as well as with their relatives and all people in Paris," she said in a statement. "The German government is in contact with the French government and has passed on a message of sympathy and solidarity from the German people,"

    What Fire & death?

France are working hard against islamism in Mali/Niger & Chad/CAR & Iraq when they can.

Its as much as they can do, and in the grand scheme of things its not a whole lot.

There will be no 'awakening'.... mostly because politicians don't want that, but also because they cannot act all guns blazing anyway, the ability is not really there.

Western military might is simply immeasurably powerful in comparison to its enemies. It will now concentrate its mind on removing ISIL from the planet. The west could militarily run from one end of Syria to the other , in a week of it wanted too

To me yes, my irish kids are more valuable than a syrian 3 yr old. But to me they are also more valuable than my neighbours 5kids...

"Our" lives have always been more important than "their" lives. The definition of who "we" are and who "they" are has changed over time, but its naive to say lives are considered equally precious. It has always been better him than me.

I know it's not really appropriate, but I can't seem to find info on what band were playing in Bataclan ? I'm just really skimming various French news outlets online and don't really know how to find my way around reddit.

But their ancestors were not French, they were descendent of migrants who had not assimilated into French culture.

Good point. Closing the borders to Muslims can't save us. We/They need to do more to assimilate French people into French culture.

Closing borders to coreligionists to 'stem the flow' is likely to be counterproductive to that goal.

Once again somebody equates trying to understand what drives this ideology and offer solutions to get of it with being an "apologist".

Where did I say that anything that happened tonight wasn't a vile and unspeakably evil act? Can you show me where I said that? I simply said that if we force our governments to get the f*ck out of the Middle East and stop meddling in other countries' internal affairs, there will be fewer people who hate us as a society. That's all. It's not about apology, it's about a pragmatic solution to this nightmare.

That's a bit like saying the Catholics =/= Christians!

Ah here. Come on now. It's not that bloody complicated.

They're really basic words, in all fairness.

Islam is an ideology, like Scientology or Catholicism.

A Muslim is an individual. Muslims are a group of people.

You can take an idea to the cleaners all day long - you won't hurt an abstract concept's feelings.

Reminds me of the Bosnian conflict.

The West pissed around with the Bosnian Serbs for 4 years and within one week of the Market mortar attacks in 1995, they'd bombed the Serbs away from Sarajevo thus breaking the siege. In a couple of days.
