Millions of Muslims are streaming into Europe, you'd be a fool to think this sort of thing is going to become any less common in the future.
We don't know where the perpetrators of tonight's massacre came from yet, but if you look back at the Charlie Hebdo perpetrators, they were French citizens born and raised in France.

A life of an Irishman is more important to me than that of a Syrian. I thought this would be the case for everyone living here.

    To me that's disgusting.

What about the life of a Syrian 3 year old? Is an Irish kid more valuable than that?

153 innocent people murdered in a western European city

Dont forget 191 died in the Madrid train bombings and that lunatic in Norway killed 77.

There were 1500 people at the concert tonight. These fcukers could have wiped out the whole theatre.

The rest may be tangential but these events are certainly connected to the USA and the foreign policy of other EU countries so entirely relevant to the discussion. It is absolutely imperative to keep this event in context especially since it is probable that the hard won good will towards the Syrian refugees will be in jeopardy after today because of ignorance and fear.

You're dreaming if you think there is a lot of Good Will towards the Syrian refugees.

Even on the Guardian CiF boards, the vast majority don't want them in Europe.

The life of a good person means more to me than that of a bad person.
I have no borders as far as good people go.

Oh the reign of western fire and death that will reign down in Syria , ISIL should heed this famous saying ....

When you consider that Hitler and Napoleon were atheists, it really takes some neck for atheists to throw mud.

If Hitler killed people in the name of atheism, you might have a point.

Oh, I see it. I can also see your inability to distinguish Islam from the people who choose to practice it.
This comment makes absolutely no sense.

No. Only a few rotten apples in the barrel.

The problem was that they weren't dealt with years ago.

Just take out the ringleaders & don't be fussy about how you do it.

Both legally and factually correct but in reality, untrue. There's the problem: you can be born and raised in Western Europe but mentally be the slave of a version of a crazed mid 7th century religion.

But their ancestors were not French, they were descendent of migrants who had not assimilated into French culture.

    What Fire & death?

France are working hard against islamism in Mali/Niger & Chad/CAR & Iraq when they can.

Its as much as they can do, and in the grand scheme of things its not a whole lot.

There will be no 'awakening'.... mostly because politicians don't want that, but also because they cannot act all guns blazing anyway, the ability is not really there.

Could this be a world changing event? France will probably force Europe into more stringent border controls.

Quite frankly, despite whether or Not UK/US have influenced ISIS I think it's time for the west to either take control or allow the Mid East implode from within

They do the same for many big events, it really is a lot better than getting your news from the mainstream media who are often slow or too quick to provide wrong info.

ISIS, Daesh whatever the hell know exactly what they are doing.

Get the West to bomb the hell out of the region and if there are a few mishaps, such as an accidental bombing of a hospital full of innocent Muslims, they'll use it as a recruiting tool for more Western Muslim kids.

We are seeing the results of our insane immigration policies, or lack thereof, come home to roost. It is not pretty. It is time to close the borders.

    Hollande
To all those who have seen these awful things, I want to say we are going to lead a war which will be pitiless.
Because when terrorists are capable of committing such atrocities they must be certain that they are facing a determined France, a united France, a France that is together and does not let itself be moved, even if today we express infinite sorrow.

Hope he lives up to his word on that one
