But I bet you'd have no issue applying for a 2 year visa to Australia/Canada etc if the opportunity arose.

I went to Aus for a year to work. I respected them, I got into their local customs (drank a fair bit, went to my local sports team (cricket, AR and Soccer) and visited their culturally important sites), what I didn't do was spend a year in Irish bars, wearing my gah top singing about dead guys on prison ships.

Listening to eye witness reports now

How the fcuk did we ever become so defenceless after everything we went through in the last century?

Listening to the 'educated' hand wringing & 'well intentioned' liberals for the last 50 years.

We were too busy filling out forms to do anything worth doing & trying to please every minority they could dream up for us to subsidise.

    That's why!

I used to think you open borders people were naive. Not anymore. You're downright dangerous.

It's nothing to do with politics. It's to do with taking the humanistic approach.

People are dead/dying because of extremist monsters. They are not indicative of an entire religion/group of people.

You have a problem with religion. Fine. I'm not religious either but I can accept that some people are and hey, as long as they can respect my views, I have no issue with that.

I get that you have views of your own on the subject but I can't agree with them. Shutting off EU countries to immigrants/refugees sets a bad precedent.

But I bet you'd have no issue applying for a 2 year visa to Australia/Canada etc if the opportunity arose.

Sky News saying a former writer with Charlie Hebdo who lived to see the aftermath of that murder spree in emergency treatment as a result of this. How horrible.
I think this is the guy who used to work for Charlie Hebdo but went on to a career in medicine and was working as part of the emergency services when that went on. He is working in the emergency room tonight at a hospital in Paris. At least that's what I think they said.

Just checked and that seems to be it alright.
Among those called in minutes after the first reports went out was Patrick Pelloux, an emergency room doctor and former writer for Charlie Hebdo. Pelloux was also among the first to see the aftermath of the Jan. 7 attacks.

When you consider that Hitler and Napoleon were atheists, it really takes some neck for atheists to throw mud.

I'm pretty sure Himmler was a Catholic.

Which should probably put these absurd generalisations where they belong.

Millions of Muslims are streaming into Europe, you'd be a fool to think this sort of thing is going to become any less common in the future.

ISIS exists because the West has tried to bomb, invade, and shoot the Arab World into submission and unsurprisingly a lot of young people there have decided to f*ck the West any way they can.

Are people honestly denying that the Islamist extremist hatred of the West has at least some of its roots in the West's horrific treatment of people in Middle Eastern countries?

People seem to want to ignore this. It is where it all stems from people. I dont remember too many Muslim terrorists running amok in European capitals prior to "shock and awe" time in 2003. If you need to refute this with something that happened 1,400 years ago we cannot continue this debate further.

A life of an Irishman is more important to me than that of a Syrian. I thought this would be the case for everyone living here.

That's odd since ISIS already exists since the late 90's, be it under the flag of Al Qaeda.

I really wish apologists would stop blaming everything on the big bad west.

Nobody is forcing them to kill innocent civilians. If you act like this you're a purely evil person, that is all that matters.

It used to be that immigrants were either invaders or migrants who assimilated into the culture of the host country, until the "enlightened sixties" when multiculturalism began to be the "way of the future", well the future has arrived and it appears to have failed!
The real danger in many cities is that the ethnically different populations are so large now that they can cause a civil war if there is any attempt now to get them to "integrate" into the culture of the host country.

I'm such a fúcking monster for being open minded and accepting people into a historically multicultural society.

    Piss off.

Rather be like that than feeding hate/racism and close mindedness against anyone who isn't "like us".

I already answered that! The British Army and the UDA/UVF were as bad look up the death toll. All wrong all murderers but a hell of a lot different than ISIS. ......

    all the f****g same

The victims included people from many backgrounds:

    Protestants, Catholics,
    a Mormon teenager
    five other teenagers
    six children
a woman pregnant with twins .................. Omagh bombing

    .

The Quran justifies terrorism, it instructs it's readers to fight, kill and behead the unbelievers.

It's a load of fairy tales that have led to these atrocities. These books and figures are fiction. These are deluded people who represent the dangers of religion. Maybe they are misguided but they are evil bad people irregardless of what ever cult they are part of.

**** these animals and **** any PC bleeding heart talking about how young Muslims feel disenfranchised and disillusioned in Europe.

**** blaming the west for innocent kids going to a concert being murdered in cold blood.

**** letting unidentified refugees into our countries to spread their evil and twisted " idealogy ".

These people can't be reasoned with or dealt with politically. They are scum , pure and simple. Close the borders, send them all home. Yes its unfortunate for the innocent ones but tough ****, your scum brothers have made it that way.

Time for Europe to stop tip toeing around murderers and protect our own people first.

Who are "these people" and how are you going to go about doing that?

it is notable how this thread is being used by people, not to discuss the events, but to have a go at the IRA, Catholic Church, the USA, capitalism, communism or whatever group they want to have a go at.
It is all a bit sad.

The rest may be tangential but these events are certainly connected to the USA and the foreign policy of other EU countries so entirely relevant to the discussion. It is absolutely imperative to keep this event in context especially since it is probable that the hard won good will towards the Syrian refugees will be in jeopardy after today because of ignorance and fear.
