And now they've said that only two tickets per child are allowed for the nativity play. Some rubbish about there not being enough seats for everyone otherwise. I mean, last year it was fine. There was plenty of room for the fifteen of us . We just made sure to send my mam along early to put her bag and coat and scarf across the front two rows so everyone would know they were reserved, and we all slipped in quietly just after the play started.
They wouldn't let us in without our Catholic passport, the auld baptismal cert.

    Parents Parents and parents....

Most of these want to be "friends with their kids"
Theres no such thing as friends.
Your a parent not a friend.

Maybe in the South, not in Northern Ireland. We are nice considerate people.

The school are nearly as bad. Last year some rude teacher was giving us daggers at the First Holy Communion because we were quietly minding our own business in the church, just chatting among ourselves and being polite enough to get up and go outside every time we wanted a smoke.

And now they've said that only two tickets per child are allowed for the nativity play. Some rubbish about there not being enough seats for everyone otherwise. I mean, last year it was fine. Some people just look for things to get arsey about.

    Genuine question:
Is it really considered ok to have a chat and walk in and out in the middle of a religious ceremony/ sacrement?

Nope. Regardless of the event/gathering, if its the done think to shut your trap and your attending their event then do it.
    E.G.
The cinema when the movie starts. **** up.
Religious gatherings regardless of your beliefs. Your attending their ceremony. **** up.
A martial arts gym. Most of them don't wear foot ware on the training area. Respect for the area, prevents trapesing dog **** onto the mats/ring and probably other reasons too. If you attend an event and are on the training area regardless of you being involved or not, then take off your shoes.

Of course. It's also okay to:

    - stand up and keep blocking people's view of the altar with your ipad, even though the priest asked, at the start, that people don't do this

    - allow your toddler to scream and roar while a Holy Communion child is doing a reading or singing a hymn, so that their loving family can't hear them

    - leave your phone switched on at funerals.

I mean, it's only a church and those religious ceremonies don't mean anything to anyone anymore, and anyone who thinks they're meaningful is an eejit not deserving of any respect.

This thread is perfect idiot bait. Surely there must be some way we can spring the trap so anyone who fails to get it/ doesn't bother reading it properly suddenly has their account closed?

I have to admit if the OP had left it JUST at the Three Lane Interchange exit story I might have actually bought it myself. Not enough to reply to it - as I do not get into those kinds of petty arguments on here :p - but internally I would have bought it and taken the bait.

Second paragraph onwards though and intelligence caught up with the back of my eyes and I gave myself a mental kick up the rear.
