The key bindings are not great but could be worse, pretty much the same as most other bethesda game ive played on this engine. Not had a problem rebinding either.

Game ran pretty well for the bit ive played of it. Getting drops to about 45fps with everything at ultra when sprinting and when panning the camera quickly, walking pace does not seem to have the same problem. Indoors basically a locked 60fps. This is on a 3570k @4.3Ghz,8gbs of ram,and a overclocked 970. Everything set to ultra, motion blur turned off. Also 1440p. Only got the game ready driver today so will see if that improves it. Be interesting to see just how much the driver will improve performance.

Enjoyed the game immediately, played the first few quests and had an explore. Modded a gun, looked at the building etc and got into some fire fights. All quite enjoyable. That FoV is very jarring though,im pretty close to a 27" monitor and it can be off putting. Hopefully they will patch that in. Looking forward to putting many more hours into this.

Hoping they'll patch it out? You might be waiting a while...

Ffind your Fallout4.ini file, which you should find inside ‘C:\Users\[name]\Documents\My Games\Fallout4\’

Open the file in Wordpad or your preferred text editor, and then scroll down to ‘[Display]’. You need to add a couple of lines:

    fDefaultWorldFOV=XX
    fDefault1stPersonFOV=YY

That dog gets old real fast - constantly blocking me in gun fights in any indoor area.

You should really be telling people to make a copy of the .ini file before editing it. Keep the copy safe just in case. Cheers for the heads up though.

I was hoping this was gonna be the game they added a slider, since they were talking up how much work they had done on the engine. Bit crazy in 2015 to not have adjustable FoV PC

So this happened me with tab earlier, but I was able to bind it to another key, then back to TAB, but now ESC won't work, and obviously enough I can't bind it to a different key because I can't bring up the pause menu...ideas?

Absolutely loving this game, college in the morning and I must...get...off.

    Or nahhhh :D

There's also no reason to have to waste Stimpacks on him.....saying that though..against Raiders etc he is great.
But Feral Ghouls just knocked him about

Got sorted, not even going to go into my sillyness...

First game ive really enjoyed in a long long time. MGS Was a big let down for me, but this has really lived up to the hype!

    Just finished the
bandit mission in diamond city for that little settlement

Also surprised at how well my 960 is holding up on ultra, averaging around 60 (1080) and hasnt once dipped below 20 :)

That Diamond City Radio dj is pretty much the opposite of Three Dog in every way possible.

I miss Mister New Vegas! I like that station.

    Synths, man.

But yeah. Probably the best of the three.

My settlement is is slow going, things like copper seem hard to come across even if your dismantling weapons and things. At my moment i just have a line of turrets at the bridge and a few around my main area with the beds and stuff. It's fairly awkward trying to make some thing with it. but im sure il get the hang of it at some stage. All i need is more peoples !!

I'm getting ropey performance, playing at 4K but I have a 980Ti. Framerate all over the place and feels stuttery.

Try play in windowed mode, borderless. Its identical looking to full screen but reduces the choppiness significantly. This game appears to have some serious rendering or optimisation issues.

I thought it was my card but changing to windowed mode1080 worked. I can now crank up the settings.

I find screws really hard to find. I took Gun Nut (second rank at the moment) and more or less all mods require screws. Short supply those things.

I shot at some Diamond City Security from afar thinking they were raiders. Have I just locked myself out of that entire section of game? Can I make peace somehow? I went off and did other things before I realised, so there's no way I'm reloading.

They were hostile to me before I met piper and got access to diamond city. I killed s fee guards before meeting her but as soon as I met her they were all chill with me.

Take the 5th intelligence to go with it, Scrapper: you can salvage uncommon components like screws, aluminium and copper when scrapping weapons and armour.

Oh. Cool. Who the hell is Piper?

She's a main character of diamond city.

Do I have to shoot my way in there to meet her?

I just took it there a while ago. I had to waste two levels to do so but still. Scrapped all the weapons I'd been hoarding to make use of this perk there. Screws, ahoy!

I like how you character wasn't holding a gun when the camera panned to her :P magic

Also..question for you as you're playing as a Female.
When you went into the vault with your husband...did they put Shaun in the Chamber with the father ?

Aside from the horrendous UI I am loving it. There's nothing quite like scouting around in leather with a sniper rifle, struggling horribly to take down a group of boss-level super mutants, and coming back that night in power armor armed with missile launchers and a minigun.

"HOW DO YOU LIKE ME NOW???"

(yes I've been playing all night)

15 hours in havent been to Diamond City, did a lot of the minute men missions. The bring you south, south is a bad bad place and best avoided until level 200 or something.

Had a massive fight in a building with a load ghouls thought I was done after a seriously high level one. Then as I walked out into what i thought was outside a legendary glowing mofo appeared. What I did in my paniked state was awesome.

Will stick up a screenshot later :D It felt cheap but fcuk it twas him or me :D

Uninstalled from the HDD and put in on the ssd. Knocks about 20 seconds off each load time.

but as soon as you try to record the game with FRAPS, the in-loading of blocks makes the game hang anytime you move 10 feet

    FRAPS

Just no. I didn't think anyone still used FRAPS.

As others have said - Dogmeat is annoying me now too so I think it's time to leave him at home. I started work on the second town you need to save from Raiders. (those guys really like to use nades). Cleared outside, (they enjoy using molotov cocktails too), wen't inside and that idiot dog agro'd the entire building which turned into a bloody nightmare. (holy crap they really REALLY like nades!!!!)
He stays at home now for sure.

To be honest, I'm actually loving the quick weapon swap now.
Pistols the left, rifles on top and shottys / MGs on the right.

How big is the final install of the game? Might stick it on the SSD aswell while Im at it, anyone else agree its worth it?^

How long do you think it will be before someone releases a kind of Ultimate Edition mod that fixes the UI and all the other little snags? Think it too about 48 hours for Skyrim.

Ah thats grand I still have 100 free there, for some reason I had it at 60-something+ in my mind. Thanks.

Yea, Fraps is pretty poor these days. If you don't have an nVidia card to use ShadowPlay with, just use OBS - I've had no problems streaming a ton of F4 via OBS's game capture.

Any chance a mod or the OP could change the thread title to Fallout 4 [PC] or something to distinguish it from the other thread in the notifications? Actually I think Ill just unsub from the other one, its getting a bit spoilerific now.
