    so - quick update.

    - Character creation is second to none. You can change everything. Loved it.
    - Playing on my gtx 970 and ultra settings seems capped at 72fps. I'm guessing this is intentional? (posting now while I try to find a way to disable it)
    - Those who posted saying faces looked rubbish are nuts. The faces look nothing like FO3. They're way better. Ok could probably be a little better again but seriously. People saying rubbish are insane.

Back to it I go. Just spent 15 min playing that donkey kong game. haha.

Level 8 and have died quite a lot, 2 bugs so far one was really fcuking annoying. Walked in a door in Corvega and every remaining bandit spawned outside the door, took about 10 retries but eventually i battered them all to death.

And all the too normal one dude wouldnt finish his sentence so I had to reload :D

Ok further update for those who want to disable 72fps cap.\

go to: \documents\my games\fallout 4\Fallout4Prefs.ini and set iPresentInterval to 0.

Might cause Physx issues so be prepared to set it back to normal.

Im running at a lovely 150+ fps now :D:D

Is it there such thing as too much choice in the character creation? I just went with the default guy since he looks a bit like Don Draper. I'm disappointed there was no random option.

Anyone come up with a solution to being stuck at a terminal after using it? Some terminals I can move away after using them, but others keep me pinned to the desk after exiting. :(

There are 12-15 or so pre-sets if that helps.

Can I just confirm that the only way to change weapons is their horrible favourites menu? Scrolling is for viewchange and the numbers appear to do nothing.

I'm quite liking it so far but the UI is a nightmare.

EDIT: Ok I worked out the favourites menu. What a weird interface.

Yeah, would like a different way to change weapons too.

Just played the intro and a short bit after, as much as it kills me ive to go bed because of college in the morning! Tomorrow will be a long day...

Just got this now myself. Very annoying.

The UI is pretty damn awful.

And that's about the only complaint i have so far. Played about 2 hours, and loving it. Just stopped with the main quest there, and went off as i usually do in these games. Made myself a cool sniper which is damn handy for any raider parties i come across. Want to get myself a decent laser pistol at some stage though. Game looks great, and the soundtrack is excellent so far.

    Roll on tomorrow morning :P

I was supposed to be off Tuesday night. Now I'm working and far too drunk to play it now. I'll get a few hours maybe in the morning.

Any one else finding legendaries crazy difficult. I was on survival when I ran into a legendary Mr Handy fairly early on and I couldn't get more than a few shots on him before he tore me to pieces. Ended up just running away from him yet the fúcker went all terminator and kept following me. Eventually lost him by going into a building and doing a quest. I dropped it back down to very hard after that and I've been grand since.

I got that towards the exit of the vault, reloading threw me back to the start of the vault part so I decided to quit for the night. Apparently it also has a chance of happening if you try and enter the power armor from the front, so be wary of that too.

Liking it so far but the UI is pretty bad. Playing on Pc and finding it incredibly annoying trying to exit menus/pipboy and the button to do so changes all the time and then sometimes decides to ask you to conform with a different button. Just ended up remapping the two main culprits (Tab/Enter) to my thumb buttons on my mouse.

They dont really explain much about the relatively new stuff like the base building , compass icons and the revamped perks tree.

My advice for now is to quick save before you use a terminal at all. And yes the power armor causes it too. Just hit it from the back and it's ok.

I'm just after starting to build up a base. Endless fun with the amount you can do. I'll not post any details but just enough to say that even that bit alone will keep me occupied for hours.

For base building - Don't be an idiot like me and stand at the crafting station wondering why the E button won't work when trying to build your beds...
Select the bed from the menu and move around. You'll then see a place-able object and E will light up. Also make sure to check what you can salvage around the area ;)

That's all for tonight. So far it's a 9/10 for me. They just need to fix the terminals.

    It's absolutely glorious.

My only complaint, echoing everyone else, is that the UI and the keybindings is horrible to use on a keyboard and mouse. I mean, sure F3 and FNV weren't great to manoeuvre either, but at least their setups had a modicum of sense, as opposed to here where you have to almost hit keys all over the place that would otherwise be mapped to the face buttons on a controller.

Still going to take a while to get used to how many basic mechanics have changed. I'm still looting almost everything off of dead bodies forgetting there's no in-the-field combining them and getting overencumbered so fast...

Seriously, who ok'd this? When you have to confirm something it could be any one of the following: escape, enter, tab, or e - entirely based on context. Just pick one you lunatics.

Ironically, I seem to actually be sick today. Don't really feel like even playing this now.....

Been playing for about 3 hours now. Wow! looks much better than expected. My NVidia GTX 750 ti is starting to show its weakness though. Hopefully some optimization is to come.

Loving the atmosphere so far, very post apocolyptic. Reminiscent of Fallout 3 in vibe rather than NV.
I found myself in a desolate waste land but there is so much scrap lieing around that I can scavange. Crafting is great, I haven’t left my own town yet as I'm having too much fun creating a fort! I think I will build a big ass tower before I go any further.

Sad to turn it off...Oh well, duty calls, up at 6am. I've booked the rest of the week off after tomorrow to er "study".

I have the same gfx card. What sort of FPS are you getting?

First impressions, since I only got about 2+ hours in, is that it looks very nice and crisp while still retaining that Fallout feel. Finally characters don't look like weird dead-eyed puppets Bethesda normally have.

From previews I was skeptical of the UI and keybindings. Here my fears were confirmed, it's pure muck and in no way intuitive for someone on a keyboard + mouse, it was clearly designed with a controller in mind and naff that they allowed this for PC. I don't get why the dialogue options have to be scrunched together so close in that weird arrow formation.

Mod request #1 for me, I guess :pac:

Started some house building which, because of no help or notifications, I had to learn as I went along. Seems pretty cool but for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to put corners on things, walls and fences just automatically wanted to keep going straight. I presume I'm not doing something right so will have a better go at it tonight.

Met the dog and called it quits at that. Will get some proper adventuring in tonight but, bar some small niggly problems, it's looking good! Another goddamn game to sink my life into!

There is a mission coming that explains all the building and how and what to build.

I figured there would be cuz my Rust skills didn't come to much :pac: Seems like a really cool aspect of the game, fully expect to see crazy elaborate buildings people will make in the near future.

I'm liking quite a bit except the plot and with that, my character. Or perhaps I should say "characterisation". Why is he so unperturbed? Finding
a group of friendlies has him mentioning being in a vault for the last two hundred years as a footnote.
Why am I inexplicably able to cook radroach meat, etc., construct makeshift weapons and buildings?

I'm not getting a feel of even mild surprise that the civilisation has collapsed. It's annoying me far more than I should. Anyone further in care to give (as spoiler free as may be possible) any indication that the protagonist will suddenly gain the "ability to be surprised by new things" perk?

And as Duggy touched upon above (as did the RPS review) there's no explanation about any of these new systems. Fine except we live in an age where manuals aren't made any more. There's a lot of little things bothering me so far.
